How many extra calories are you supposed to eat for twins? I know it's 200 extra for a singleton .......... I'm just wondering because I need some reason to feel better for eating like a pig!

I thought it was 500 extra per baby. I probably ate more than that, though -- I gained about 2 lbs a week (throughout the whole pregnancy  ).

I just really listened to my body. And I figured I would get "the lecture" from my OB if I gained too much weight. It never happened, so I was good.

I honestly have no idea and I was to a dietician because of my lack of weight gain. She wanted me to gain around 35lbs which is the low end of the scale because I had a high bmi to start with. She said as long as I'm eating 3 large meals and 3 snacks a day, getting lots of protein, and following the food guide for pregnancy that she's happy.

My GD nutritionist told me 600 calories.

Most of what I've read is 500-600 extra calories for twins. I didn't really pay attention but just ate when I was hungry.

I think you should eat to hunger/thirst. I never counted calories and I ate constantly!!!

I am a very petite person pre-pregnancy (105 and 5'2') I gained 45 pounds with the twins. All of which came from weeks 15-37.
During the time my doctor saw me every 2 weeks there were visits were I gained 6 pounds in a 2 week period! It all worked out. In hindsight (knowing how quickly I lost, w/bFing and all) I would have indulged more :) Although I cant say I really denied myself anything.

I actually asked my OB at my last appointment because I am technically obese, and I know there is even a higher chance of preclampsia with twins ..... but he just said there was nothing I can do about it and that I can't diet when I'm prego, which I knew .... but he didn't even seem concerned about the weight or how much I should or should not gain. He didn't talk to me about diet at all. Maybe he will at my next appointment.

Hoping for no preclampsia or gestational diabetes and no bed rest!!!!!!

Just be sure what you're eating is healthy. Lots of protein, lots of dairy, fruits. veggies, whole grains, water etc.
Growing babies burns a lot of calories and if you plan on nursing you'll need em.

Dr. Barbara Lukes book talks about diet quite a bit.

I'm trying my best to wean myself off of coca cola, down to one or two cans a day... I'm also finding myself eating a lot more mcdonalds lately because the grease and salt sound good to my nausous stomach. I'm also craving sweet breads .... I know that adds up fast. I'm doing good with dairy, and protein though!

Maybe I better start that yoga class sooner than later! :)
