How many braxton hicks are you having?

I am 26 weeks pregant today with b/g twins. I started having braxton hicks at about 15 weeks, and these weren't everyday. Now I am having them more often. Doctor said to call if more than 6 in an hour.... but doesn't that seem like a lot? I have will have some hours where I have up to say 5 and then not many for a while. Sometimes I don't have to be doing anything, I can be sitting. Most of the time though it is when I am up and moving around, picking things up, walking whatever.

Just wondering how many you ladies are having.. also did anyone actually go from the braxton hicks like this into preterm labor. I think I am okay, but want to know if I should be really taking it easy.. These babies aren't ready to come yet!

 

I used to get them a lot, I mean 10 in an hour. I was never in pre term labor. That is not to say you shouldn't call if you're concerned.

 

I am the same way right now. They had me come into L&D when I was having 5 an hour on Sunday. Since this is my first pregnancy they just wanted to check. My cervix was fine, but my FFN test came back positive. He put me on strict bedrest for a couple days and my cervix improved, even though it wasnt really bad. He went ahead and put me on bedrest "as much as I can" for now. So I am working from home and only getting up when I have to for food/bathroom. I did go to church and teach bible study tonight though. I have them both if I get up or sit still. I am down to about 1 every three hours unless I start moving around. Hey I just got one now while I am writing this.

 

At 34 weeks, I'm having between 5 and 10 BH contractions every hour at night. I have them less frequently during the day - maybe 1 or 2 an hour. I'm not in pre-term labor, though. My doctor said not to worry about them unless they become painful. So, at least at this late stage of pregnancy, they're not necessarily an indication that pre-term labor has started or is likely.

 

At 31 weeks I'm having them on an off throughout the day. I find that if my bladder is full and I can't find a bathroom right away I will have them back to back. I try my very best not to let that happen. But on average I would say the most I have is 8-10 an hour.
edit to say : Not every hour do I have that many. Just when I start with them I have 8-10 then they stop for a few hours.

 

Thanks ladies! It sounds like it is pretty normal to be having them. Still I will make sure I am not having too many an hour and let my dr know if I am. Also I will try to take it easy!!

 

Thanks for this post! I have been worried at times, too. My doctor said if you drink lots of water and lay down for an hour to count them - if it that hour you have 6 or me, I should call him. So far after the water mine have stayed under 6.

Twin pregnancies are hard with all of the not knowing!

 

That is cool.. I am 26weeks 1 day (2 days behind you), with boy/girl twins and my son's name is Gabriel!! He is 5 though.

I am glad I am not along with the bh.

 

Funny the similarities... maybe these four babies will share a birthday...

 

I had lots last night - I've had them sporadically since 15wks, (I'm 25w4d) but last night was weird! I get more when I'm dehydrated - which was my problem last night. I also get them if my pants dig into my belly underneath! Nasty when i'm driving!

 

While I was in L&D for another reason the other night, I was having them every 5 to 6 minutes for the two hours they had me on the monitors
