base on my experience with DS and my nieces one please do not buy a lot
at the begining buy only couple of different firms
because your baby might not take them at all.
I have a lot of avent one and my DS didn't take it.
he use Dr. Brown. but I was told that wide is better so I had a lot of wide but he like the narrow one.
my younger niece only took playtex with latex nipple.

Honestly I would only register for a couple. I went out and bought a ton of bottles before my girls were born and once I got them home neither one of them would use them, so I had to go out and buy all new bottles. Good Luck! Have fun registering!

I would say u might have to try a couple of different kinds until u find one's that work for your babies. But once u have the rights one's I would suggest 16 bottles 8 for each baby, then u only have to do bottles once a day. oh and don't get too many of the smaller one's as they will soon outgrow them mainly 8oz are better (or so I found).

Oh and all this info is if u are planning just bottle feeding. If ur also breastfeeding I guess u would need a lot less bottles.

With ODD, we had 4 four oz bottles, 5 eight oz bottles and 1 eleven oz bottle.

I have how many more we'll need for 2 babies, but ITA with the others- see what they'll take before buying a lot (or asking for them as gifts).

Just make sure to check they are BPA Free! I am amazed how many are still out there in the stores. A great website is safemama.com. The Playtex Drop-in's are GREAT and so easy and with my son he never got gas because of their design. I agree with only getting a few to start OR keep some in the box with the receipt. All babies have different preferences.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure anything purchased at BRU is BPA-free. They have the new Avents, Born Free, and even glass bottles too.

But I have still seen the older BPA bottles at places like the grocery store, Target, and maybe Wal*Mart too.

We use the Dr. Brown's bottles and we have 12 of the 8oz. We didn't buy any of the 4oz bottles as they wouldn't be using them for very long.

We used Avent and had like 17 4 ounce ones, and then maybe 16 8 ounce ones.

I would get 4-5 each for now. I am using Avent, same as I did with dd.

I bought the MAM Ultivent bottles. They have been working really well for gas by the way. Anyway I got 11 9oz bottles of them. That to ME didn't seem like enoff and they were alittle on the big side for like 2-3oz feedings. So I called my mom up and she got me Gerber newborn 5oz bottles she got me like 12 of them. Those 12 with the 11 I already have seem to do the trick for me. But I don't like to CONSTENTLY have to wash them. I like to use up all the 5oz ones then put them in the dishwasher .... While they are washing switch off. But one thing I can tell you...... I got 2 of the drop in bottles they seem to be really good too. If you bought a whole bunch of nipples you would only reallllllllly need 2 bottles. Cause all you do is change the drop in and the nipple. Seriously good idea i really don't know why I didn't do it in the first place. Oh well. Hope it helps.

I agree with everyone else. In the beginning you don't know what your babies will like so I have registered for about 3 different kinds and 3-4 bottles for each kind. I plan on breastfeeding but pumping also! With my other ones once they were a little older they were not as picky but the first few months they were. GOOD LUCK!

I too agree with pretty much everyone else, don't get them all before the babies are born. We have a ton of bottles (glass, Dr. Browns, Playtex drop ins and Medela). We have so many mostly because of trying to find the BPA free bottles, which were really hard to find back in early 2007 (not that long ago). You can tell if they are BPA free or not pretty much by the clearness of the plastic. Clear hard plastic typically contains BPA and cloudy and/or flexible plastic are typically BPA free. Dr. Brown's finally have the BPA free bottles but we have only found them in the 8 oz. size. Once we got the brand established, we had 8-4oz bottles and 6-8oz bottles for one baby so we are doubling those numbers even though we plan on breastfeeding at the beginning. The 4 oz bottles are nice for when they are newborns because they aren't so long and they can also be used to hold juice or pedialyte when they get older but won't be drinking 8 oz. of those types of liquids. I never favored the wide bottles because my dd couldn't hold them by herself at a younger age when she started wanting to hold the bottle.
