I went in to get my DD from her nap and she was on all 4's rocking back and forth. Is this what they do before they start crawling? Im noticing now she is doing it in her crib every time she is in there.

Mine crawled later than most (10/11 months), but that's exactly what they did before they started moving on all fours!

Mine are 10 months old and DD has no interest at all in crawling or even being tummy down (she just rolls over). DS crawls well but mastered it well in the last month or so. It sounds like your DD is on her merry way! :)

Oh my gosh, start the babyproofing! Crawling at 5 months?? Wow, a precocious little one! Sounds like Mark and Eli (the cutest 9 month old walkers, their mom posted video here recently) have a companion in their early mover club.

FWIW, my nephew was doing this before he started to crawl at 7.5 months, took him a week or two before he really got moving. Go Lily! :babyflips:

Wow that's awesome! My boys just started rolling over. I think I have a while for crawling!

That's great! My William has been rocking like that, too, since 5 months. He's still not quite crawling, yet. He shoots himself forward from that and hasn't mastered the one knee at a time approach.

So, I don't know how long until full crawling. Every baby is different. I wonder if William will be rocking this way until he can walk, since he is getting around all over the place with this method, or maybe he'll figure out the crawling thing today. Who knows?

Let us know, or at least let me know when it happens for your LO. :)

That's exactly what mine did before they crawled. I don't remember how long they went from rocking back and forth to crawling, but I don't think it was too long for DD and DS it did take longer, because he went from the rocking, to just using his arms to move forward and then crawling. Way to go for your DD!!!

I was wondering the same thing :)
My ds has been doing that the past week... I know he moves around the crib a lot!...he is never on his back anymore.
dd has no interest..she is happy on her back playing with toys

My twins Hailey is army crawling and has been for the past month and Hannah she goes on her toes and crawls that way. It looks so silly but I don't think either one of them will ever crawl correctly.

I've got a full on crawler and an army crawler here. Rose rocked about 2-3 wks before she was well on her way. Congrats on early movers! Like PP said, time to baby-proof your home! If not, then [like us] they'll teach you what you need to move

lol, the same thing happend to me a week or so ago. I but my LO's down on the floor in their room to run downstairs and grab a book. Came back and dd was on all 4s! Crazy! She loves to get up on all 4s and rock but so far she can only go backwards.

That is what DD did at that age and then crawled right at 6 months. DS did it a bit longer and started at 7 months but was army crawling since 5.5 months. Watch out one day she will just take off!

Okay, now I know what Ronan does - Army crawling! He just started that the other day. William started rocking about a month ago and now does this strange kind ofcrawl. He lunges and gets around fast, but he doesn't coordinate his legs one after the other much. It's fun to see. :)

Just wanted to let ya know, it may still be awhile. I posted this same topic back in the beginning on January when Callie started rocking on all fours, she did not start army crawling until last week- so she rocked for 3 months! You may still have awhile. Camryn who never rocked, started crawling about a month ago, so she was actually quicker to crawl than my early rocker!
