We've got the cribs converted right now to the toddler daybed thing. I'm just curious, how long until they outgrow these? Then what....twins? Or would it be better to just get fulls?

We moved our boys to toddler beds (cribs converted to toddler beds) at age 2 and bunk beds at age 3. We went with the bunk beds to give them more playing room in their bedroom. I was skeptical about whether they were old enough for the bunk beds, but they did fine and loved them. They take turns sleeping on top.

We went right from cribs to twin beds--and unless they outgrow those as teens, that is probably what they will stay with. None of my siblings ever had bigger than a twin, and as a teen, I don't want to give them any more room than they might absolutely need.

As for bunk beds, the recommended age for a bunk bed is 6 years old. I personally would never have allowed my boys to sleep on the top bunk before then. They have done it only once, in a hotel, and even at 6, it was tough for the one waking in the night and going to the bathroom without falling.

We've always just gone right from the crib to twin beds, my oldest DD went right to a full bed. Never had toddler beds here.

Naomi and Luke have toddler beds and (at 5) they still fit just fine, they seem comfortable enough too. As far as I know the plan is for them to stay in these beds until they get their own rooms, and I don't think that's happening for another year or two.
I think a lot depends on the size of your kids. N & L are the smaller end of average for height/weight, when they lie down there is over 1ft of space at the end of the bed. If you have small children they should be fine for as long as you want to keep using the beds (I think you could get another couple of years at least).

Ours were in toddler beds until 3 months before their 5th birthday. We were overseas and the twin beds there are not the same size as here, meaning if we bought there, we'd never be able to replace the mattress or buy sheets in the US. So we waited until we came back to the US.

Honestly, they'd probably still fit in the toddler beds. They had plenty of room left.

I'm putting mine in twin beds in the next month (they are almost 3). They're going straight from crib to big girl beds, we didn't do toddler beds at all.

We're in toddler beds now, and did the toddler bed with my son. They will probably stay in them until right before kindergarten and then switch over to twin beds or fulls--that's when we switched with my son.

Our girls are in converted toddler beds. I think they will be fine for another year and they are 75% height (on the toddler chart). We will get twins when they are ready. :)

We just switched to the toddler conversion from crib. If I didn't have the conversion (just a regular crib), then I can totally understand going straight to twin size. Anyway, I'm keeping them in toddler bed as long as possible b/c their room is small. bunk beds are for 6 & up.
the other bonus of crib to toddler bed is that they are lower to the ground. Generally NOT needing bed rails. I'm hoping by the time we switch to twin sized beds, they'll be okay w/o rails.
