I had my last Dr's appt. on Friday. I am now 24 weeks and my Dr. said I can keep working. Everything is fine with bp and not too much swelling. I work four-10 hour days and commute an hour each way. I am thinking my next appt. in July might bring restrictions. I was just wondering if anyone has worked up till the end or how long do most keep working?

I reduced my hours around 28 weeks to 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, but I was only a 15 min. ride from work. The time is coming for you to do the minimum you have to do so you can take care of yourself the best. :hug99: I ended up working until 33 weeks (at that point I was doing 4 hour days) when I was put on bedrest for pre-e.

I worked full-time up to around 32 weeks and then part-time (roughly 3 or 4 days a week for 4-6 hours a day) until just past 36 weeks. I had about an hour drive to work and just wasn't comfortable with that and I just couldnt' sit at my desk anymore. I was miserable, so I stopped working. My body definitely let me know when working became too much. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

My doc just reduced my hours to 6 per day at 28wks. I go back at 30wks and I may have him take me out completely if he doesn't do it anyways. I'm so tired at the end of the day and my back hurts really bad. I think the time off will be nice to rest and finish things around the house before they come.

Well I will be 32 weeks on thursday and I am still working full time (5, 8hour days). My work is about 30 minutes away from my home. I dont have any plans on stopping until the twins arrive. I am uncomfortable, but I have had no complications, so stopping work hasnt been an issue. Lets hope it stays that way :)

I just quit working on Friday...I was putting in 10 hour days, 5 days a week. My job is pretty active, so I was getting really exhausted by the end of the day. I know I could have probably worked until the end as I haven't had any complications. On my last day of work, though, my feet swelled so bad that I almost couldn't get my Dankso clogs off when I got home!!! A good sign that I needed to call it quits.

I would say that it is better to err on the cautious side...listen to your body!

My OB reduced my work hours at 6 months to 6 hrs. a day but I left on my own at 7 months and I really think it helped me to carry them so long, I had them in my 39th week. I commuted to work on a bus and El and I was on my feet alot my boss even asked me to rearrange the filing cabinets which was an entire room when I was 6 months preggo..yeah right! Anyway, don't feel bad when you are done you're done. My shower was the week after I left work and I had lots of time to get things together since I was not working, I could nap when I wanted to and rest, rest, rest! GL!

My doctor takes all mom's of twins out of work at 28 weeks. 7 more weeks to go! He said I won't be on bedrest, just not having the stress of work. Sounds good to me since I'll get short term disability while I'm out!

Some women work right up to the end, and I was determined to do so, especially since I'd had a 9 lb singleton and figured I could certainly carry twins to term. When my doc insisted on giving me paperwork to go on disability at 32 weeks, I kept telling myself I felt fine (I absolutely didn't!), and kept working full time. Needless to say, I ended up in the hospital with pre-term labor at 33 weeks 4 days, and I'm fairly convinced it was because I was pushing myself too hard.

My story has a good outcome, as labor was eventually stopped and I didn't deliver until 37 weeks. But had I to do it over again, I would have stopped working earlier (certainly by 32 weeks!), and would have taken much better care of myself instead of feeling pressured to keep performing at work despite my twin pregnancy and obvious discomfort. Instead, I spent an uncomfortable and nerve-wracking week in the hospital (over Christmas, no less!), and 3 more weeks at home on bedrest before delivering the babies.

Listen to your body...if it says you're too tired to work, don't consider the calendar - consider those babies!
