We started the babies on cereal last weekend. They are 5 and 1/2 months old now. WHAT A MESS... anyhow... how long till you started introducing veggies and fruits?

we started introducing other foods after about a week. We didn't stay on just rice for very long, just long enough to know they were tolerating it :)

Our pedi recommended 4-5 days on something new before starting something else. I know others do less, and others do more.

I was going to suggest 3-4 days. Long enough to watch for a reaction of any kind.

Same here ... did cereal for a few days to make sure there was no reaction and then started on sweet potatoes.

This is exactly what we did too. My girls preferred the veggies to the plain cereal and actually ate more of it (i.e. made less of a mess!). GL! -Leighann

I did rice cereal from 5 months to 6 months, along with barley cereal. Then at 6 months I started with one new fruit or veggie every few days and oatmeal cereal. Rice cereal is gentle on the tummy but it can cause constipation.

I also started cereal alittle after 5 months and tried all the cereals (rice, oat and barley) before starting veggies. We started veggies at 6 months. Every 5 days we introduced a new veggie starting with Sweet Potato.
