Syd WILL NOT LET me put her down! I am already going to have to have surgery on my wrist here in the next couple months- she cries for no reason- and it drives me nuts! It's hard- do I hold her because the crying drives me NUTS or do I just let her get it out. I kind of did both today- but it is SO HARD - she has been doing this for a couple of days. HOw long does this last? I'm not sure I can last [IMG] It's just me most of the time here as DH works full-time and school full-time.

14-17 months was the worst here! Mine definitely turned a corner at 18 months! It was a LOOOONG stage! I feel for you!

I posted about this last week. E & A are so connected (and I mean physically connected to me). They hold onto my pants and cry if I am not on the floor with them. I am with them the majority of the time, but I have to do some cleaning, prepare food, do dishes, and spend time with my other kids. I don't remember this as much with J & T as with E & A. Especially Avery.

Everyone says it gets better. My husband tells me not to pick her up each time, but she gets sooooo upset and then needs the calming. Reportedly she only does this behavior with me.

Let me know if you find a good strategy. But in the meantime, you are not alone.

    Take Care, Tara

It will get better . . . in the meantime not much else we can say but hang in there!! Good luck with your upcoming wrist surgery. Maybe you need to get a hip hammock to hold Syd in? I have one that I used with the boys around that age for outtings and such and it did help. It would definatly be a good thing for you, that's for sure.

It will get better. I found one way of avoiding having to pick them up was to tell them that I couldn't pick them up, but that I would give them a hug instead. A lot of the time it worked and they moved on. But I agree that it is a long stage!

It's a tough stage - you feel loved but you don't want to be clung to either. It does get better. Don't give in every time she requests to be picked up. Maybe you can reinforce her that you are right there but can't pick her up right now. When you go for your surgery you have to tell her that you have a boo-boo and that you can't pick her up. Offer lots of hugs and kisses and then cuddle time but make sure not to injure your wrist.

Melissao- COME ON 18 MONTHS [IMG] I can't take it anymore! I can't wait until they are teenagers! They are going to have their mommy hanging on them for one entire day- and on another day- I am going to keep them up all night- just to show them how much I love them [IMG] As my mom always said- paybacks are golden [IMG] HEHE!!! I won't be that mean but it will be fun when they realize some- just a taste- of what we went through!
