How long do you let them fuss?

So last month I though both girls had mastered rolling from tummy to back; it was actually funny because I couldn't get them to stay on their tummies.

But in the last couple weeks it's like they've completely forgotten how! they lay there and scream after a few minutes. I sit and fold laundry next to them and talk and try to comfort and rattle the toys - until I give in and turn them over. At which point they're very content to lay there and play, so I know it' not that they're hungry or something.

How long should I "make them try" before giving in and turning htem over? Shouldn't they be doing this by now? They are almost 5 1/2 months, although only 4 mos adjusted.

I can't believe that they are 5 months already...where does the time go?!! I would just continue to do it in small increments of time if they are still frustrated by it. Try puttiing their arms the way that they should be when they roll, and hopefully they will start doing it on their own again! All of my babies rolled between 4 and 5 months, no need to worry! Besides, you know that they can do it!

I never pushed tummy time, my guys hated it! They learned to roll over pretty quickly, and did all of their milestones on time.

My babies are doing the same thing. One day they were rolling all over the place and now they get mad after staying on their tummies too long, like they forgot they could roll the other way. I am constantly turning them over when they get mad. I usually don't let them fuss very long. I do this because I don't want them to hate being on the floor and playing. I just don't want it to turn into a bad experience for them. I just figure one day they will start rolling all over the place again.

I read an article that said they should be doing 15 minutes of tummy time. You can try lying on your back with them on your tummy looking at you. But son't worried theya re doing fine.

I always turn Alex & Gabby over as soon as they start fussing just so they wouldn't associate tummy time with stress... Now, they love tummy time and would stay there for about 10-15 mins. Don't worry too much, I'm sure they're doing great and each child will do things on their own pace.

we try to get in a TOTAL of 15 min/day or so. no way will they staythere that long in one session! if they fuss, i try to put another toy in front of them or distract them somehow. if they persist, i roll them back over, but try to move their arms in the right position to help.
as for the rolling, mine are 7 months and DD CAN roll back to front (though i am ALWAYS int eh bathroom when she has done it!), DS doens't roll yet but can sit. he ALMOST gets over. we've been anticipating it "any second" for the last 1.5 months. he is doing fine otherwise and very strong and active, so i'm not concerned really (and i'm a physical therapist- we're usually freaks about every little thing!! :p ) just keep giving them the opportunities to move and practice skills and they'll get it.

We had a similar issue with rolling "regression" where they seemed to have forgotten how to get back onto their backs from tummies. It lasted a couple weeks and they would get VERY frustrated. I'd try propping them a little and encouraging them to put their arms out in front for support.

I'd let them fuss a bit before turning them over. I think a little frustration is ok, it was when they started getting really upset (usually after about 2 minutes) that I'd roll them back over. It was definitely a stage, and it passed! ;)

I was a wimp. Lauren did great but Emma was not a fan so I would only let her fuss for a very short period. She did tummy time for a couple of mintues here and there in the beginning. I didn't push it because I knew if she wasn't happy, no one would be happy! :p
