How long did you use your stroller?

I've been trying to talk dh into a new stroller, but he thinks they're only going to be using it another 6 mos or so. According to him, as soon as dd starts walking I won't need a stroller anymore. DS has been walking for 3 mos now, though, and he's just fine in the stroller! Plus, I just can't see myself trying to go to the mall or shop somewhere & chasing 2 toddlers in opposite directions.

I just think they're going to outgrow the Duoglider soon.....already whoever's in back has very little legroom & is kicking whoever's in front. But, the kind of stroller I was looking at is several hundred dollars (not like we have the money anyway  ). But dh has a point; why spend that much if they're not going to use it much longer?

I used mine until they were about 2. I kept a couple of umbrella strollers for high-traffic situations until they were 2.5. I am fairly early to get rid of strollers, though. I also did not have more than 2 small kids at once, since there is a gap between my boys and my girls.

Well, my little ones are 3 and we still use the stroller. Not as much as we used too, but still fairly often if I have them by myself. Today I used the stroller when we went to the grocery store. In the afternoon I took them out in it for a half hour walk around our neighborhood. I think twins are often in strollers longer than singletons--it's so much easier to manage and they are pretty used to it and accepting of it.

My boys are 2 and we still use our stroller all the time, they actually love to sit in there! My DD is almost 5 and she sometimes wants to ride in one (no straps or anything) when we are going somewhere with alot of walking. I just purchased a new SBS in July for the boys!!

I think a lot of it depands on your lifestyle. We live in a neighborhood/town where we can walk to everything from our house, so we totally rely on the stroller to walk to the library, the park, the community center, the farmer's market, Starbucks, CVS, what have you. We also live right on a bike trail so we can take long walks on the trail. We are still going strong with it, and I don't see that changing anytime in the near future. We always use it at the mall, the zoo, those kinds of things as well. I just have to say that this:

is one of the funniest things I've ever heard! I guess the whole "running in opposite directions" thing has never occurred to him, huh? I never needed my stroller more than after they both started walking, LOL!!

A stroller is still very necessary after they are walking, esp due to the whole running in two directions factor! I tried a mall trip with no stroller and it was a total disaster. I have a DuoGlider and don't feel like I need to get a different stroller. Yes, they do sometimes kick and pull each other's hair, but I don't know how a different stroller would stop that.

Oh my...we will still be using the stroller for awhile. If there are two adults, then the kids usually walk. But when I am solo, which is most of the time, I have to have a stroller.

I still use my stroller when I'm out by myself shopping or jogging. I can definetly say you will need it MORE after they are both walking when you are out by yourself. We had the duo glider and when they were about 18months old I bought my VALCO and I have LOVED it!! It has made outing on my own sooooo much easier. It is a side-by-side so there is no kicking or hair pulling. Also it is narrow enough to fit through a standard door easily, it has the swivel front wheels......I don't know what I would've done without it. Good luck convincing your DH!

My girls are almost two and we are still using our stroller a lot. If DH and I are both out with them, chances are they will be walking unless there is too much foot "traffic" around like at the fair. My two run off in two different directions, so DH and I both use the stroller when we are solo. Also, big shopping trips to the mall call for the stroller to help carry all the shopping bags. It is really hard to carry shopping bags and keep ahold of a small, slippery hand! I love my Combi side-by-side stroller even though it can be hard to get through some stores-though these are the ones that are not wheelchair friendly and should be. My Combi is the width of a wheelchair.

    Hi Ladies,

I've been debating whether to get another stroller for my twins g/b who just turned 1 yr old (Sept. 30th). I had some frustration with the Graco DuoGlider where I have a hard time getting my twins out of their seat especially if they have shoes. The front seat does not open (I have the older than the new 2007 stroller). What more -- the back seat is a little bit laid back not fully upright and noticed my twins is hanging onto their cupboard to see things around them.

I thought of getting a double tandem stroller for them. I kept telling my husband how I hate the stroller we have but I feel stuck. He does not realized how much of a work when I am on solo to the mall, park, and etc. Any advice to a happy stroller for me?

We still use strollers for ours. I have two triples (jogger and regular), two doubles (jogger and duoglider) and a single stroller. I don't plan on getting rid of them anytime soon.

At 1.5 yrs old, I started using two grocery carts for grocery shopping instead of the stroller and a cart. That marked the slow end of using the stroller. Now at 2.5, I can't remember the last time I pulled out the stroller. Wait, I can remember. It was at the 4th of July fireworks. They were up way past their bedtime and I thought I should use it for two sleepy kids. Instead they walked/bounced back to the car.

We live in the city so we rely on the stoller alot too because everything like, Target/Kmart, food shopping, park, etc is within walking distance. I probably will use my stoller until I feel comfortable with them walking on their own with me which will probably be for a while longer. I have a duoglider also but I love mine.
