How long did you use swings?

My LO's are just over 5 months and we used to use the swings for naps a lot but are transitioning naps to their cribs. That started me wondering how much I'll really be using the swings. They like to play on the floor or exersaucer/jumperoo more now. Since we used swings for naps they tend to fight us when we put them in swings because they think it's nap time  . How long did you use your swings (not including sleeping)?

I think we stopped using it around 5 months, but I kept it out "just in case" for about another month or two.

Ours had interest in them until about 8 months. We never used them really for naps though.

We stopped using them around 6 months. My girls were never really big fans of the swing though so it was easy to just put them away and they didn't seem to care.

I used their swings for naps only. They napped so great in those swings! By 5 or 6 months I transitioned them to napping in their cribs. I tried to put them in their swings for playtime a couple time, but they just weren't into it. Now they prefer to be on the floor playing or in their exersaucers. I just got them a walker with wheels and they really love it! Like pp, I did keep the swings out for another month or so, but now they are in storage and I can walk in my living room again!

Sarah used the swing a lot until about 5 months and then occasionally until 8 months or so, mostly when she was having trouble falling asleep for nap. At that point I felt she was getting too big for it (the motor could barely make the swing move with her in it :D ). Amy lost her patience with the swing around 5 or 6 months.

6 months -- that's when DD learned how to get out of it...we knew it was time. We had no problem transitioning over for naps. We actually ALWAYS attempted naps in the crib, and if they were overtired we used the swing.

We still have them, but rarely use them for the last month. This morning I put Ryan in there until daddy got out of bed to feed him (I had to go to work) but they are more interested in looking over the side, and although they are buckled in, I'm so afraid they are going to somehow flip...and like others have mentioned...the motor barely moves them...

    Good luck with the transition!!!

I've never used mine for anything but a nap! They sleep so good in them. I've started trying one nap in their crib, but they just prefer their swings. We'll probably use them for naps for a while.
