how long did it take to fit "normal" clothes?

hi, I thought I'd post this where people had already delivered.

I'm wondering how long it took you to fit into your normal pre-pregnancy clothes?

also, how much did you gain? how long did it take to loose the weight?

for those who also have singletons, did it take longer, shorter or about the same amount of time to loose the weight and fit your normal clothes again as it did with your singletons?

I just don't want to have unrealistic expectations, and I can't wait to deliver and wear normal clothes again!

    thanks

I think a lot of it depends on how much you gained during your pregnancy. I gained 75 pounds. Pre-pregnancy I was a size 6. Almost six months after birth I am a size 10 and have lost about 55 of the 75 pounds. I still have 20 pounds to go to get into my size 6 again! I have decided not to beat myself up over it. 9 months up, 9 months down - give or take a few months [IMG]

I also gained about 70-75 lbs. I have lost about 50 lbs so far. It's been 10 weeks now. I started light work outs at 4 weeks pp because I was really weak from weeks of bedrest. I'm still not fully recovered in terms of my physical strength.

I delivered at 33 weeks, so I only ended up gaining about 40 lbs. Pre-pregnancy I was a size 6 and I have been back in my normal clothes since the boys were 6 weeks old. I did pump for them up until about a month ago. I had lost about 35 pounds by the time the boys were 3 weeks old and by the time they were six weeks old I had lost all but 1 pound of the weight I had gained. I think that all of the pumping/bfing is what really did it.
Even though I lost all of that weight, EVERYTHING jiggles and my body doesn't really look even half as nice as it used to, so, keep that in mind too.
Congrats on your twin pregnancy! Always remember that no matter what anyone says, you are truely blessed! [IMG]

I gained 53 pounds. Before the girls I was a size 6 moving into a size 8. About 4 months after they were born I began to fit in my 8 jeans. Now at 5 1/2 months I am fitting in my size 6 jeans. I will say that there is a bit more hanging over the top of the jeans than there used to be - but I am still working on that!

I also want to add that when we left the hospital I looked about 9 months pregnant so bring some big comfy pants to go home in! I think I lost 33 pounds that first week home!

I only gained 50lbs and my boys were 7.5lbs each, so I lost most of my weight on the operating table!! Within a few weeks, I was in my normal clothes and I am now 3 sizes smaller than when I got pregnant. Breastfeeding twins is the best weight loss solution!!

I'm obviously still working on it but just wanted to say that I gained 58 pounds with this pregnancy, was around a size 8 before, and 1 week and 4 days after giving birth I've lost 34 pounds. I am breastfeeding as well. I still have to wear maternity clothes - my body looks just plain wierd and kind of ugly right now - got this big loose "pooch" where my toned tummy used to be [IMG] I can't wait to get the OK to work out again and get toned up and lose this weight. I had a great body before the pregnancy and I want to get that back, dangit!!!!!

I gained 60 pounds and delivered 2 6+ pounders at 37 1/2 weeks. I lost 40 pounds within less than 2 weeks, and now at just over 5 months, I'm about 5 pounds from my pre-pg weight. I can fit into most of my pre-pg size 6 to 8 clothing.

BFing has literally sucked the weight off. Plus I'm on a dairy elimination diet, and that has helped too.

Unfortunately, at 8 months post-delivery, I'm still not in my normal clothes.... [IMG] Don't be discouraged; however, we are all different!

I was about 122 lbs. pre-pg and a solid size 4 to 6. I gained about 70 lbs during pg. I'm now 135 lbs. and wearing an 8. I've been at 135 lbs. for about 3 months. I guess the rest is not coming off without some serious working out. I will add that the majority of my weight came off with breast feeding. Once I stopped, it stopped--immediately. It has taken me some time to come to terms with my new body. I'm sure this is true with everyone. I have to constantly remind myself that it's okay, and that I've done a GREAT job! Everyone is different. You will be fine! I see you have 57 days to go! Here's to making it as close to the full 57 as possible! And ditto on bringing super comfy clothes to the hospital! I have to laugh when I hear friends of singletons say they left the hospital looking at least 4 months pg! Ha! I still looked about 9 months, and I did both vaginally--no extra swelling from a c-section.

Best of luck, and look forward to seeing you here with us on the First year board!

My twins are 9 months and I can't wear about half of my pre-preg clothes. I'm one size up in pants still, but my looser sweatpants (pre-preg) fit okay. And my larger tops from pre-preg fit okay.

I gained 42 pounds, and I still have about 17 more pounds to lose to get back to my pre-preg weight. I did BF, but that didn't help me lose weight at all.

I delivered at 34 weeks and gained exactly 29 lbs during my pregnancy. I lost the first 20 lbs in about two weeks, but the remaining 9 lbs is still hanging around. Granted, I stopped breastfeeding at 2 1/2 months and I don't really exercise, so I'm not doing much to drop the last 9 lbs. I fit into about half of my pre-pregnancy clothes, but for the most part I am one size bigger than I was before getting pregnant. I have to get my butt moving to lose that last 9 lbs though because I absolutely refuse to get pregnant again before I've lost all the weight from the twins!

Everyone is different. I gained 78 pounds with mine (mostly fluid) I lost 50 pounds in the 5 days I was in the hospital. And am now at my pre-pregnancy weight even minus a few. But, and this is a big But, my body is totally diferent. My stomach is nasty with stretch marks and loose stuff and I am now more hippy. It was a total change to my body, but I am in all of clothes again which is nice. I feel normal for the most part.

I only gained 29 lbs, but I was about 20lbs over weight pre-pregnancy. I did lose all of my 29lbs from my twin pregnancy but I have this nasty loose ichy skin (twin skin) that hang over my normal pants. It took me about 1 month to get back into my pre-pregnancy pants. Starting in the new year I plan on loosing the other 20lbs I still carry around from my first son. [IMG]

With the twins, I gained 65 pounds. By the time they were 5 months old, I was back in my size 4s. I gained 45 with my singleton & was back to "normal" at 5 months as well.
The best part is that b/c I'm nursing I can eat WHATEVER I want to eat & not gain. I'm really enjoying this!
    Good luck!

I gained 17 pounds. Two weeks after delivery I was 18 pounds BELOW my prepregnancy weight. My pants are all too big, but my shirts are all too small (I am nursing so I am huge up there!)

My dd gained 35 pounds with the twins and as of today, one month after deliver she is back in her pre pg clothes. She does have the twin skin thing going on but can get into her clothes..

I gained 32 pounds with my oldest dd, was back in my normal clothes one week later and lost 29 pounds 1 week later.

With the twins I gained only 30 pounds up to 34 weeks and another 13 in the last weeks but mainly due to severe swelling (3-5 pounds a week) in my legs. I was back in my normal clothes one week later and I stepped on the scale at the ped office at my twins' 2 week visit and all the weight was gone, all 43 pounds. I just have to do some exercises for that belly area.

I just wanted to add that I gained 60 lbs with my single daughter and my twins and I my body seemed to hold up much better with my twins than my daughter. Maybe it got stretched out with my daughter so the twins were no sweat! Also wanted to say that I do drop some with breastfeeding but the I hold onto 10-15 pounds until I stop breastfeeding. My girls are 5 months old and my goal is to breastfeed until they are 6 months old and then I want my body back. I was a serious exerciser before the pregnancy and I'm ready to get back into it. Good luck! It's tough having twins in the beginning but ultimately it is such a blessing!

Like pp's said, everyone is different! I actually gained only 3 pounds during my pregnancy, but was overweight prior to getting pregnant, thanks to PCOS. [IMG] I was on a strict GD diet from 14 weeks on, and a week after delivery I was about 30 pounds lighter than my pre pregnancy weight.

I remeber how you feel though, I couldn't wait to actually put on a pair of pants that zipped!

You know, sometimes it feels like it takes forever to lose the weight and size. Please don't be discouraged. I know that I can be a little obsessed with weight and image and find myself crying and a little depressed because I don't have that flat tummy that I used to. I am small. Pre-pregnancy I was a size 2 and around 110 - 115 pounds. I gained around 35 to 40 pounds during the pregnancy and I didn't lose it right off. I was expecting to get home and on the scale and to have lost at least 10 to 20 pounds. Yeah...when I got home a week after delivery by c-section I weighed exactly the same as before birth. Go figure. I am exclusively breastfeeding and doing minimal exercising and eating when I'm hungry and I am at 120 pounds. It's gonna take time to get the body back and I think that pregnancy changes the way your clothes fit. I can button my size 2 jeans but my hips and the extra skin around the tummy is not flatering. My suggestion is to buy a couple pairs of pants that are of a larger size so that within a few weeks you won't have to wear maternity clothes. That helped me feel human again. Your body will do what it needs to. Hang tough and enjoy the babies that you will have to hold. Having to wear size 6 jeans is a small price to pay [IMG]

I am back into my normal clothes and have been for about two weeks. By no means do I LOOK normal. I still have quite a bit of tummy that is there and my hips are still spread pretty far apart so jeans are tight right out of the wash. I lost all the weight a few weeks ago. I think 10 weeks PP I lost everything.

I think I gained about 70 pounds, but I don't know for sure since I REFUSED to know what I weighed. I was up about 20 pounds when we got pregnant from the months of fertility treatments (ick). I lost 50 pounds in the first 3 weeks due to fluid (the doc said that at the same time she told me what I weighed, so I did the math). My weight just wasn't coming off at all. I hadn't lost one single pound in 7 months. I started Slim 4 Life about 5 weeks ago and have lost 11 pounds. Only 30 more to go to get back to pre-fertility. I wore non-maternity clothes for the first time the week before Christmas. They were the biggest pants that I owned that I had not worn in years! I'm glad I didn't throw them away. I was thrilled to be in something that had a button close, but not thrilled that I knew they were super huge pants.

I gained 33 pounds with this pregnancy. I still have about 10 pounds to go and I am BFing. I have not been actively trying to lose the last 10 but I think if I did it would come off quick since I pretty much eat what I want.

After a few weeks I was back to my pre pregnancy weight but not the same size. My body has changed so much that I am not sure I will ever be able to fit into the same clothes again. Even though I am the same wieght it is just so different. I am going to have to find a new style of pants and longer shirts etc. Gotta love my new flabby twin skin gut! [IMG]

I was really lucky in that regard with this pregnancy. I only gained 14 pounds and actuakky fit in my pre-preggo pants 4 days after having the babies. When I went for my 2 week post partum check I had lost my pregnancy weight plus 20 pounds!

I gained about 30 pounds. Started at 120 and delivered at 36 weeks at about 150. I was back to my normal clothes within 2 or 3 weeks, and by 6 weeks they were baggy. Your body can really do amazing things.
