How long can you wear a Halloween costume? Apparently, the answer is 47 hours straight with a short break for a bath. For all of you who suggested I let DS pick his own Halloween costume, you were right! The kids love to play dress up so Thursday morning we headed to Walmart to pick up some costumes on the cheap to put in a dress up trunk. I was showing the kids various costumes and at one point pulled out a Diego costume. DS said immediately "Oh, Mommy!". When we got home he had to immediately put it on and then he wore it all day Thursday, wore it to bed Thursday night, wore it all day Friday, and to bed Friday night. Early this morning he had leaked through his diaper so we HAD to take the Diego pants off. That caused some unhappiness but no choice. A couple of hours later I convinced him to let me wash the Deigo shirt by letting him pick a treat from his Halloween pumpkin in exchange. So, Deigo is now in the washer.

If I had had time before the preschool party I would have taken him to pick out a costume. But, he was very happy being Snow White at the party and then very happy being Spider-rella (Spiderman/Cinderella) Halloween night. Nothing though compares to just how happy DS was being Diego over the last few days :). The funny thing is that DS isn't even really a big Diego fan. Go figure!

Glad that my daughter is not the only one who did not want to take off her costume. Dani wore Minnie all day Wednesday, all day Thursday including overnight. And most of Friday.

I've learned that Halloween costumes are pretty much the best toy 'investment' we make all year! My kids are continually running around with random capes, costume parts, and old halloween wigs. That's so cute about your little 'Diego'!!!

I love this story! I'm glad he's having such a great time in his costumes. Someone needs to ask Ellen Barr how long one of her kids stayed in his Batman costume last year (or was it the year before?). I believe it was several months. My favorite was when she showed a picture of him dressed as a pirate for Halloween OVER TOP of his Batman costume.

I hope we don't make it several months! DS is back in Diego costume. DH came back from being gone and said to DS: "I'm glad you took Diego off. It was getting kind of stinky". I'm in the background giving DH the cut sign, but it was too late. Made DS wanted Diego back immediately, of course. Luckily, Diego had finished drying by then so we could put the costume back on. Silly Mommy had forgotton to put the Diego pants in the washer so we had to make do with a different pair of blue pants. That caused some problems but all seems to be OK now :).

How do you go several months? I had a heck of a time getting the costume off of DS to wash it.

A friend of mine told me that his son wore his spiderman costume for about a week. Until it started coming apart at the seams. Same child also slept in his batting helmet when he got that for little league. Heh.

Of course, I had to open this thread -- and then I saw your response, Sue

Yes, my Sam wore his Batman costume for nearly a year and a half straight -- though he did take it off at night, which made washing it possible. In not very long, I had to go on ebay and buy another of the same costume, so that I could at least rotate them and not have to do laundry every single day. One positive of them wearing the same thing all the time is that it really cuts down on the getting dressed battles. While my son, Sam was in his Batman phase, my other son would only wear one pair of leopard pants. His phase lasted much longer -- nearly 3 years! I am sad to report that at long last, he's given them up. Starting Kindergarten seems to have been the thing that finally ended it. He finally admitted to me that he was afraid people would think they were girl's pants :( Hard to believe I'm sad about that coming to an end, but I am!

Anyway, good luck Brenda! It sounds like Billy is an awesome little character. I loved reading your story -- it brought back some very fond memories for me :)
