How long can I use the "finger toothbrush"?

I started out trying to use baby toothbrushes with the twins, and it was just a fight, and not doing much good for teeth cleaning. Got the Oral B "finger" brush with toothpaste (I was starting to notice stinky breath too!)....they love that, and let me get their teeth, but being that the bristles are that soft rubber, I'm not sure I'm getting off everything I should...Just wondering til what age you all used them...Maybe I can reintroduce the baby toothbrush w/ the toothpaste....never tried that and they seem to look forward to whatever flavor it is!

I don't know how long you can use it. But I started with a real brush at about a year. Honestly, they were biting my finger so hard with the little finger brush and I couldn't take it anymore.
Get the fruity oral-b toothpaste and they may take to it better. I also do it at bathtime so they are kind of captive! :icon_biggrin:

I still use the fingerbrush if they start really hating the toothbrush. I go back and forth depending on how much they're fighting the toothbrush. Sometimes they tolerate the toothbrush better than others. We're in a fingerbrush phase now. I figure the fingerbrush is better than nothing. The banana/apple toothpaste is the best. They love it. Gerber makes it. HTH.

We sre still using the finger toothbrush too. They don't let me near their mouths with the regular one. Unfortunately, dd likes to bite down and thinks it is hysterically funny. And it hurts! I'm not able to do a great job, but its better than nothing!

we started w/toothbrush at 12 months. Sometimes they fought me a little at the beginning but who can blame them. I was sticking this weird thing in their mouth and moving it all over their gums LOL. I literally had to wrap my legs around them a few times to keep them still and they bit the brush sometimes. but, i just remained patient and didn't let them see me getting upset otherwise it would have become a fun game...for THEM. i think after a few times, they realized that they liked the taste of the oral b toothpaste. it's flavored really yummy and it doesn't have flouride so they can totally swallow it. Our rule to this day is that we brush first and then we let them brush and they are really getting so good at it. At first, they would just bite on the bristles but i'm figureing it must have felt really good and soothing on their sore gums since they still had a lot of teeth coming in. they still chew on them a bit today but my thinking is that if they are chewing on it then they are still gettin those teeth clean. GL. They may fight you at first but just keep at it and keep it routine and they will fall in line with it.

We started with these toddler safety toothbrushes at about 1 year. The girls liked it because we let them brush their own teeth when we were done. The fruity baby toothpaste definitely helps as well.
