How long before your stretchy skin firmed up?

Without sounding too vain I was wondering how long before your poochy belly and stretchy skin firmed back up...I know it takes time and I am in no way expecting some flat six pack abs (especially without doing any sort of ab work yet) but I do have a small pooch and my skin hangs loose (more so on the loose skin). Does anyone have any suggestions on help with this to make it go away faster? I am trying to follow the rules of no working out for six weeks but I cant wait to be thin again!!!
I am taking vitamins, eating somewhat healthy and drinking lots of water-is that all I can do?

    Thanks!

Yeah...still waiting here! There was a thread a couple of days ago on twin skin. Some ladies were even kind enough to post pictures. You should check it out. I started to notice the most change around the 6 month pp mark. But like I said, the skin is still pretty disgusting. In fact, just last night I told DH that I'm going to have to face my fears of him seeing or touching my belly at some point, so we turned off all the lights and I put his hand on my flabby belly. I told him we'll tackle seeing the belly in another 8 months :D . Of course he said it felt soft and cuddly and attempted to try to "make out" after that, so I guess it's not as bad as I think. ;)

    eta: You're not vain...you're just a woman!

I asked my OB to be honest with me. I asked if my skin would "go back" and he said that some multiple mothers have the experience that their skin goes back, but for the majority, it is stretched too much and never goes back.

So far (6 months, 3 weeks pp) mine is here to stay.

I'm only 3 weeks pp, and I'm dying to do some crunches! I really hope it's not there to stay  When did everyone get the okay to start working out again?

Mine's still saggy at almost 9 months post-partum. I haven't done sit-ups or anything yet (didn't want to burn too many calories while breastfeeding...scared it would take away from their nutrition). I was talking with a mom of 9 year old twins and she said she has been able to tone up really well, but there's still a bit of saggy twin skin. Maybe those who have had previous pregnancies have a harder time too, though? Since it's been stretched out several times...

The OB told me at my one month follow up that I was clear to start some ab exercises. I do some situps occasionally, but really the flab is not the muscle, it's the skin - so I don't think crunches will make much difference. DH told me this morning that he thought my stomach was looking much better, but I don't notice it. I think it's like a marshmallow - very squishy, even though the muscle underneath is fairly firm.

LOL! Still waiting for mine to go back too. Not much hope that it will, though. I'm pretty squishy.

Quite often, twin skin doesn't go away without surgery -- alas. I lost all the weight by about 9 months PP. I do have an abdominal separation, which makes my belly stick out, but that's a separate issue from the twin skin. It just hangs there and always will.

there is hope...mine was gone around 4 months. Not those yucky stretch marks though. Adn don't get me started on my boobs...they did NOT go back to normal! I call them "pancake boobs" now!

I haven't really worked out and mine was back in a few months - though I do consider caring for twins all day a huge workout. People ask all the time if I'm working out - I always say "yes, all day long." :)
You'll be back before you know it - try not to worry about it.

Mine will firm up after my tummy tuck. If your skin is stretched out, it really never ever firms up again. Sorry.

Uhh......????????????? I was NEVER under the impression that IT was going away. Afterall, it would be nothing short of miraculous if this disaster zone went away w/o surgical intervention! My situation has nothing to do w/ working out---- very much to do w/ having 2 big babies in there and GAINING 90 lbs! EEEK. I don't have any false hopes for me.. Good luck!
