    Hi, MOMs!

We are making the transition to milk and I was wondering how long it can 'sit' around before it's officially spoiled.

With formula bottles, they'd drink some, leave it on the playroom floor for twenty minutes, drink more, play more, then finish...

With milk, I'm a little paranoid about how long it can stay 'out' and not spoil.

So if I pour their morning bottle and they drink half, (I don't want to put the rest in the fridge right away, in case they'll finish it soon), how long would you say I could leave it out for?

Can't wait to hear your opinions...Thanks!

If you're planning on saving it to put back in the fridge, I wouldn't let it go for more than an hour. If you are just going to throw out the rest when they are done with it, it can stay out for about two hours. I've actually seen it spoil if it's left out any longer than that.

I usually go for up to 4 hours. Of course, our house is usually running the air conditioner. . .

If it's warm, it's a no go...but if it's at all cool, I go with it!

Hi, I can't help you out with your question, sorry, but I do have a question for you...My boys are 10 months and 2 weeks and no one ever mentioned starting them on milk yet??? How are you splitting the milk and formula up and how often per day do you give them milk?? Thanks Ashley :)

To the OP-I would not leave milk out longer then an 1-2 hours at the most. Like you, I have a fear of spoilage.

Ashley, we started with the transition a week before their first birthday and we started with half formula and milk and then each day we reduced the formula and increased the milk. They are completely on milk now and are doing much better drinking it then they were even last week. Because our pediatrician is concerned about their weight (our twins are in the 5th percentile, they were not even close to 20 lbs at the 1 year appt) she wants them to get 24 oz of milk per day. Before you start milk, you might want to talk to your pedi first. Good luck!

We just had a pedi appointment today [for an ear infection] and my pedi said that they're totally good-to-go on milk.

We've been doing 8 oz---1/2 and 1/2---milk to formula. Next week, I'll do 2 formula/6 milk, etc. until it's all milk.

I just searched "sippy cups" and read all the MOMs responses to which sippy cups are best...I LOVE TwinStuff!
