How long after you went off your PTL meds did you go into labor?

I'm 36 weeks and will be going off of Procardia XL this week... my feelings are that it will make a difference in how soon I will go into labor, but the doc didn't seem to think it really would make much of a difference? Any experiences???

I went off my PTL meds at 35 weeks and delivered at 35.5 days, so 5 days later.
My contractions got quite a bit stronger and regular when I stopped taking them.
Good luck! you are so close!!! :yahoo:

I was on procardia from 24 weeks to 36 weeks. (I was also on bedrest from 25 weeks to 36 weeks due to a shrinking cervix.) My uterus was a bit irritable, but not necessarily in PTL... they just wanted to help make sure my Braxton Hicks were not affecting my cervix.

Anyway, I went off the meds at 36 weeks. Today I am 38 weeks and 1 day -- STILL PREGNANT, much to my complete surprise. Delivery is scheduled for this Wednesday if I don't go into labor sooner. I am shocked to be facing this date, but thrilled!

    Good luck to you.

What a great question!! I go off my PTL meds this Sunday and am wondering too how long til I'll go in labor after that. Not sure how often you are contracting on meds but I contract all the time on them now so wonder how I'll feel once off of them. Good luck to you and to healthy babies and delivery!!

Before I went on the Procardia I was contracting all of the time and in the evenings the contractions were starting to become more regular... I have been on Procardia XL for about a month and a half and during that time have become 80% effaced and started to dialate. So. part of me thinks the Procardia has not been very effective. On the other hand, though, I take it at night and towards the time that I take it my contractions really amp up and it takes a couple of hours before I notice a slow down with them! Is it awful that I'm hoping our little ones arrive within the next week??? :) I know I'm only 36 weeks, but I am just dying to meet them and know how this whole labor and delivery thing will go down!!!!!!!!

I went off my PTL meds at 34 weeks. I had 2 trips to L&D for contractions but didnt deliver until my scheduled C section at 37 weeks. I did have non stop contractions though from the time I went off my meds until they were born.
