How long after a bottle do you feed solids?

I was told to feed a bottle and then solids 30-60 minutes afterwards. My DH thinks this is crazy. So, my schedule has been looking like this...

    7:30am Bottle
    8:30am Oatmeal

    3:30pm Bottle
    4:30pm Rice and veggie

They obviously are not hungry for solids one hour later but it's more so for practice at this age, right?

I feed mine solids/table food about 1-1.5 hours after a bottle. Here is our schedule during the week:

    7:30-wake and bottle
    9:00-oatmeal/fruit/pancake
    11:30-bottle
    12:30-puffs, yogurt, meatstick
    3:45-bottle
    5:30-meatstick, meat/veggie, table food
    7:30-bottle

I have found I really can't wait more than 1.5 hours because they are usually napping then. If you just started then yes it is mostly for practice. Mine in the last month have gotten hungrier and are ready for the solids/table food when it is time. Yours will get hungrier as they get older too.

I hardly do anything conventionally. I didn't get the reasoning behind the logic on this one either. But then again I waited til they were almost 6.5 mo old before I started cereal. Which they hated, so I immediately advanced to fruit and veggies. They're eating stage 2s now.
I did hear it is just for practice, but I can't see throwing it all away either just so they could practice. I fed solids first and then a bottle later, about an hour or so later if they could wait that long. They usually end up letting me know when they're hungry. So I get them up first thing in the morning
    8am 8oz bottle,
12 up from nap, fruit mixed with a little bit cereal.
usually around 1-2 another 8 oz bottle
up from their nap at 5pm. veggies
    6pm 4 oz bottle
    8pm bedtime 8 oz bottle

It works for us. Somedays they take the 4oz bottle, somedays they don't. And it varies on how much of the solids they actually eat.
    Good luck.

In the morning I do solids 30-45 mins after nursing, in the evening about an hour later. Solids are just for practice at this age. Most of their nutrition comes from breastmilk or formula so you don't want the solids to get in the way of their intake of that. That said, my boys still eat a ton even though they nursed not that long ago.

I do solids about 15 minutes after bottles right now. I was doing it 1 hour after, but found they eat just as much right after the bottle. [IMG]And I don't feel like I am feeding them ALL OF THE TIME!!

I give them right after nursing. They seem to have plenty of room for it and it does not interrupt the next feeding time or nap.
