I am doing research and i ran across some other forums and they said that usually 2 weeks after you are diagnosed with pre- e you deliver. Do you all know if this is true. This is so new to me... I posted an update on my swelling in another thread, don't know much about all of this.. Can you all help. Now I am worried. That would only make me about 32 weeks if i have to deliver. Is it different in every situation. The peri said they will do additional testing on my 24 hour urine catch to see what kind of protein, what does that mean? I have an appointment with him on thursday and i am sure he will tell me them but i want to know now.. How much protein did you have before you were hospitalized?? I am so sorry for so many questions but now I am nervous... I know everyday i bake these babies the better but 32 weeks seems scary...

Oh yes my protein was 495... bp wasn't that high on monday but on Friday it was 158/89.

I would imagine all situations are different. Once I had protein in my urine (around 33 weeks) the doctor monitored me pretty closely. I was told that I had it mildly, and delivered 4 weeks later. It gradually worsened over those 4 weeks. Just heed any advice they give you.

I had pre-eclampsia at 36 weeks. I went to my regularly scheduled OB appt and there were some signs, but he didn't really think I had it, but I was sent to the hospital for further testing anyway. They admitted me for pre-e and said I would have my c-section scheduled the next day. But I ended up going into labor that night. My friend had a similar situation at 31 weeks. On her way to the hospital for further testing for suspected pre-eclampsia her water broke. I've heard that sometimes your body just knows it's ready and has to deliver. Sorry I don't remember all my stats, though I do know my protein levels elevated pretty quickly throughout the day from the time of my initial appt to when I got to the hospital. My blood pressure wasn't that high, but it was high for me. I normally have really low BP. My swelling happened gradually. I didn't gained a ton of weight at once. My friend said she gained 12 lbs of water in a week.

I told my doctor that I'm worried about this coming on sooner in a future pregnancy. He said normally they monitor you, and you don't necessarily have to deliver. Sounds like that's what they are doing with you. They probably would have admitted you or put you on bed rest if they thought it was really serious at that point.

My friend who had her twins at 31 weeks are doing fine now. Just rest and try to relax and hopefully you will keep the babies in as long as possible.

    Hi,
From experience try to relax & rest all you can during this (I know it's hard when you are scared.)
Everyone is differnet but, I had pre-e at 28 weeks and delivered at 30 weeks emergency c-section because our lives were in danger.
I was on bedrest for a total of 2 months before delivery which 3 weeks of that was in the hospital.

Do Take Care of yourself and keep those babies a cooking as long as you can!!

I also had pre-eclampsia and was diagnosed at 28weeks. I made it to almost 32 weeks. It started out slow the first couple weeks but then progressed rapidly. I was on bedrest and then hospitalized for a little over a week before I delivered. My BP was pretty high most of that time...around 150-160 over 100. By the end my protein was well over 10,000. It was scary but all worked out fine in the end. I got the steroid shots and the babies did well in the NICU for a month. Feel free to PM me if you would like any more info. It was very difficult but I had great care and my twins are doing very well.

I was diagnosed at 31w3d and delivered at 35w5d. My 24 hour protein was 333. My weight gain was rapid over that last month but my blood pressure didn't increase until the last week. My water broke or we would have gone longer since the pre-e was still mild.

I delivered within hours with my first. I was 36 weeks though. My bp was 180/120. They didn't even tell me what my protein was bc they rushed me over. I had also been having the severe upper gastric pain as well as the headaches but thought they were all just normal pg woes. My liver enzymes were all elevated as well.
I was told you have to have two high readings in a row and protein over 300 to be diagnosed. I would assume they will watch you closely (demand that, as this can happen quickly). Keep a close eye on all your symptoms and report anything you feel might be different to your drs.

I started having symptoms around 28 weeks but my OB didn't really pick up on it til 32 weeks. I spent 5 days in the hospital being monitored. My 1st 24 urine was 396 but then went down to 315 then 296 and I got to go home on modified bedrest. My BP stayed around 150/95 or less and I was induced at 35w5d. During labor my BP shot up and I had to have a Mag Sulfate drip for a day but everything turned out fine. Good luck! The Pre-eclampsia Foundation forums are a great resource.

BP is the main thing with Pre-e that forces a fast delivery. Mine was insane. I went in for Mondays appt, doc was unimpressed my feet were bigger then DH's size 11 shoes. I was sent to labour and delivery and tested. I was not released.Bp was 170/170....stroke level. Trace protein. I delivered the next day. Bp kept rising. I was 35 weeks 2 days.
