We live in the midwest and this is our first week of summer like weather. I really enjoying taking our twins outside for walks a couple times a day. This week it's in the low 80s, which seems hot now but won't in a another month or so. Is there a temperature that is too hot for babies to be outside? Do any of you have your own "rules" about the best temps to take your babies out in?

We have an expression in the UK which goes "mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun" It´s funny but so true. The number of Brits I´ve seen over here looking like lobsters is incredible!! I live in Spain and the temperatures can get up to the late 90s here in the summer (late 30sºC) and I keep my LOs indoors dressed in cool clothing and drinking water! Once the heat of the day has passed, I´ll take them out in the evening if it isnt too humid. Also, first thing in the morning is another option. I´ll also smother them in cream! Im sure you know all this already though ;) Also I go by the ´rule´ if Im too hot then they are too. I´d trust your instincts, they are most likely the right ones!

I take the boys out in the morning but once it gets so hot that I'm uncomfortable, we are back in the A/C. They could probably stay out longer, and not care, but I use myself as a guideline.

I live in Central Florida so I definitely know what hot is. The girls can't tolerate much over 80 degrees. Even with sunblock they still come back all red because they are too hot. oh and the heat makes them incredibly cranky. so I try to take them in the early morning before it gets crazy sunny, hot out.

I am in FL, so it's hot here too! I do like Megan and use myself as a guide. If I am hot, my babies are most likely hotter and it's time to go in. We tend to stay out of the heat during midday, early afternoon when it's hottest.

I agree with Megan and Becky, during the heat of the summer if I am going to take them out it is going to be in the early AM or early evening when temps are cooler. If I am uncomfortable, then I just assume they are too. I should add that I hate the heat, I've never been a fan of it!

I live in south Texas, which I lovingly call the 9th Circle of Hell in the summers. The boys and I go outside in the mornings and evenings, once it's cooled off. We are very rarely out in the midday sun, just because it's so intense. You can burn walking to the mailbox here! Like Becky mentioned, I use myself as a guide. Once I start to get uncomfortable, it's time to come inside. The boys get lots of water and a snack as soon as we come in.
