    Hi Everyone!
How far in advance should you send out b-day invites?

    Thanks

I would think 4 weeks unless a lot of people aren't local.

    Thanks for the reply!
Now... does anyone have any ideas for food? It's going to be an outside b-day party around a pool.
We were thinking finger sandwhichs, chips w/dip,and amybe something like seafood salad.

That sounds perfect....how about fruit cut up into a watermelon basket??? that is always a big hit here, and it is easy!

here is a favorite for fruit dip

    16 oz of cream cheese
    2 jars of marshmellow cream

just beat together with mixer in bowl and refrigerate! (can be done a day ahead)

We sent our invites out already but that is becasue people are driving 6 hours in some cases.

We are having hamburgers and hot dogs as well as some salads. Of course, we are also having birthday carrot cake.

In my experience, seafood salad doesn't hold up well outside in the warm air, unless you can keep it chilled somehow.

I think finger sandwiches are a great idea. We did a lot of picky stuff for our girls' first party and it was so convenient and easy for people to just munch.

    Chicken wings
pigs in a blanket (for the kids!)
    kielbasa
    cheese, crackers, and pepperoni
    salsa, guacamole, and chips
    veggies and dip
    fruit
    cupcakes

I sent out an email "Save the Date" about 6 weeks ahead of time and then did the invites about 3-4 weeks ahead of time.

Being that it's summer & a lot of people have weekends booked, I plan on sending out my invites 6-8 weeks in advance.

Oh my, that means I better get moving!!!!!!

If its more than family I would do about 4 weeks.

    We had:

    Fruit Bowl
    Chicken Tenders
    Veggie Tray
    Cheese Tray
    Chips & Dip
    Lunch Meat Tray
    Assorted Buns
Nuts ( no history of allergies in either family)
