I have seen two instances of twins being born within a few days of one another. I am trying to find out information about this but haven't been successful. Has anyone else heard of twins being born days apart. Why/ How could this happen? Does anyone know?

One of our Moderators, Amy (Summerfun) had her twins 10 days apart!

I don't have personal experience, but from what I learned from Amy and a few others, it happens when one twin is born very early and they manage to keep the other one in for awhile. I've never heard of it happening with twins who are more or less full-term.

How do they keep one in? Are these c-section or vaginal births?

The record I think is 2 months. I've never heard of it happening by csection though. Always vaginal birth. It seems to happen more with women who have two wombs

I have read about this happening more and more with twins. It used to be that drs would just take both out when they came if early, now drs are trying to keep the other in as long as possible and are finding ways to make it work. I think a lot depends on how the moms body reacts to the first babies birth. I am sure Summerfun will tune in and give us more info as hers are true miracles born 10 days apart!
