Ok I go to the doctor on Wednesday (was suppose to be my 24 week scan, but pushed back due to emergency surgery a week ago) and I was curious if it will be too early to get a date to see a goal to go for? My doctor said I wouldn't go pass 38 weeks and I will be that on December 13, I might go for 37w 6d to get 12-12...but is it too early to may set out a date to have these kids?

I may be pushing the envelope there, but I am curious.

I think I was about 36 weeks. She thought I would deliver between 35 and 36 weeks so when I didn't ... she set a date. It was also based on Thanksgiving and when she was on call, which turned out to be the Monday after Thanksgiving (I was 38 weeks on a Saturday, and 38 weeks was a minimum based on hospital standard since there was no medical reason to induce).

I see a group of doctors and a few of them refused to set a date. I finally talked one of them into setting a date b/c my DH was going to be deployed for 2 weeks if we didn't have the csection scheduled for my 37th week. Turned out I had the boys a month before that day and they came home from the NICU the same day we had the csection scheduled for! :) It's so hard to be patient, but I would just mentally set a date for the 38th week. All doctors are different though, so it's worth asking.

I got my date the beginning of Oct for Jan 3, 2007. My dr would not schedule a c-section before 38 weeks - Jan 3 put us at 38 weeks 4 days! no one thought we would go that far - all of my drs told me to expect to deliver mid December - but we made it to our Jan 3 birthday!

At 37+5, the doc checked me and said my blood pressure wasn't getting better and while the babies weren't being stressed, we should make plans to get them out for my benefit. I was offered the next day or the next week. So not much notice.

ETA: I also wasn't given a choice of day. I was told inductions are done on Thursdays and that was that. You might get more flexibility with a scheduled C but I wouldn't count on getting a specific date.

    Thanks everyone!

As long as our baby A stays head down (he has been the entire pregnancy) than I can go for a vaginal delivery, but I am going to ask to see. My DH thinks I am crazy for asking this early, but hey its September, they are due Christmas Eve! HAH! Its closer than he realizes!

When I asked my Dr how far did she think I would go, she gave me this standard, with today's medicine and taking care of yourself you can go the whole way... grr I wanted a realistic answer. Of course that was about 2 months ago or more, now I am 22w

    My doctor brought this up...

I told her I was certin I would be having the girls on Thanksgiving Day ( 37 weeks)... Since I have been right about everything else, I have a good feeling about that too. For the record though, My doctor said if I didnt have the girls by 38 weeks, she would go ahead and induce.

I never got a date. For us, it was always just wait and see. We didn't think we'd make it to 30 wks with the TTTS but we did and then the peri just wanted to keep them in as long as possible. We wouldn't have gone past 38 weeks but, at 35 weeks, we still weren't talking about a date.

Yeah I hate not having a date, but every time I go to the doctor I hope and pray I will get a date and I get nothing! He is so certain I will go on my own before 38 weeks because that is what he is used to, but I don't think they are gonna come out on their own!! I guess he has never had babies as stubborn as my boys LOL

I was told at 24 weeks to push for 28, then 32, then 34...

Now I'm told I'll probably go within the next 2 weeks.

    We'll just see.

One thing I've learned, is that the whole when to expect twins thing is very elastic. ;)

My doctor always said to shoot for 38 weeks. As I got closer, I started questioning it. At my 35 week appt he said he'd induce at 37 weeks.

My water broke at 36 weeks.
