How do yours fall asleep and wake up?

I was thinking of this the other day- and am praying it only gets better- SYdney- she wakes up crying and goes to sleep for naps crying. Kaysie- she wakes up jabbering and goes to sleep jabbering. It got me wondering what yours do? I am hoping SYd will become a child that just lays down and falls asleep- I hate day after day and morning after morning starting and ending with that sad cry [IMG]

Ryan falls asleep quietly and wakes up talking. Sofia will usually talk until she falls asleep and wakes the same way. Occasionally she will cry when I put her down, but she usually quiets in a few minutes.

It depends. Usually they wake up jabbering. Most of the time they go to sleep quietly, but we have had some crying recently with them getting to sleep. I just keep telling myself (when they cry to sleep) it is their way of winding down and getting to sleep. When Emilie wakes up she jabbers for a bit, but if she thinks we should have come up to get her by this point she will start to cry.

Lately Melissa goes to sleep and wakes up DEMANDING THINGS!

Jade just jabbers, although she's grumpy if you wake her up before she's ready to get up.

Neither of mine just lie down and fall asleep. However, over the past several months, they have evolved (at bedtime at least) from serious crying to mere complaining. They lie down voluntarily, I leave the room, and then we hear "laaaa! laaaa!" and various other not-quite-crying noises for 10-30 minutes. I really do think they just need to wind down that way.

Every once in a while, though, one of them (usually Sarah) still really cries. It sounds like her heart is broken, but I think really she's just mad about being stuck in her crib in a dark room when there's so much to do in the world.

Sarah wakes up silently and Amy jabbers. Then Sarah starts jabbering. They sound pretty contented. Recently I've been hearing Amy singing "row, row, row..." [IMG]

For naps we are more likely to get crying when they fall asleep. And Amy often wakes up crying from naps (though she stops right away when I come in).

Mine fall asleep either watching Curious George or Nemo... they wake up, look around, see me and begin smiling... the wake up look is the cutest thing in the world.

On most days, they go to sleep happy and wake up happy. Typically, they go gather up their blankie, lovey, and a binky and they are off to their cribs. It is nice; they even ask me sometimes if they can go take a nap now. Ben wakes up from naps a little cranky sometimes, but he gets over it as soon as I come get him out.

They have not always been like this. About 6 mos ago, it was a bit more of a struggle.

Bella always goes to sleep without any noise - she sticks her fingers in her mouth and goes right to sleep. Josie, on the other hand, almost always cries for a minute or two before falling asleep. They both wake up happy - usually quietly talking but they get louder with their babbling the longer it takes me to go get them.

Both of mine go to bed quietly at night and occasionally cry at naptime especially if they are overtired. Troy wakes up happy and smiles and Jet wakes up SCREAMING! [IMG] For the life of me I can't figure out his problem. He is usually the first one up so he isn't getting up before he is ready. He just cries. It is really sad [IMG]

Except for a few phases, my kids have pretty much always gone to bed quietly and woken up quietly. If they woke up crying, that was a sure indication they hadn't had enough sleep.

Our girls usually go to sleep quietly after a little crying and jabbering while we rock them for a few minutes. I think they just have to wind down for the day. They generally wake up playing, but if we don't go in and get them fairly quickly, it will change to crying. During the week they are usually still asleep when I go in to get them up so we can get ready to go to the babysitters. They are so cute when they are sleeping and watching them wake up and stretch is so sweet. The smile they give us is the most exquisite site and a wonderful way to start the day.

Both of mine go right to sleep. If I see they're getting sleepy and ask if they want to take a nap, they head right for the stairs. Every nap and bed time, we go through the routine of paci, blanky, Elmo and at bedtime, they hold my hands to say their bedtime prayer. They usually wake up talking and laughing at each other. Some mornings, Alexis wakes us up screaming b/c Alana is standing on top of her, but those mornings are getting few and far between now.

Mine will be 2 next month and fall asleep quietly or sometimes chattering to themselves (they each have their own rooms) and sometimes they wake up chattering if they've had a REALLY good sleep but usually it's calling "Mommy!" or they'll start fake crying if I don't rush in there fast enough.

Our bedtime routine is books, then I hold Ryan and sing Twinkle Twinkle and lay him down with his blankets and whatever truck he must have in bed with him on that particular day. Then I pick up Lauren and take her into her room and sing Twinkle Twinkle and lay her down with Elmo and Baby. So they're wide awake when I put them down but they fall asleep quietly.

Have you tried just asking her, "Why are you crying? What do you need?" Or saying, "If I give you one more kiss will you go to sleep?"

I don't know...maybe that's just how she knows to fall asleep.

rachel just lays down and falls alseep. wakes from naps crying b/c she has to go potty.
Alexis jabbers to sleep. will wake crying only if Rachel wakes up first, which is rare. otherwise she wakes up calling for me. this morning they were both jabbering at each other.

YEEAH, Mine do that at times, too. But sometimes they will go to sleep peacefully. Hopefully it will get better soon.
