How do you tell a 16 mnth old

My twins are almost 16 mnths old, and i am almost 10 wks along with my second set of twins. Doctors have put me on all kinds of restrictions, and of course...they dont understand mommy cant do that anymore. I really cant handle them jumping up and down on me, bc of the pain that im constantly in. But you tell them and they look at me like im crazy! I dont really want to punish them, bc i know in their mind they are doing anything wrong...and i dont want them thinking that they are in trouble for it, i just dont know how to get them to understand mommy cant do that anymore, at least not for right now.

Just be consistent. If they are jumping on you, etc distract them with something else to grab their attention. Explain to them that it hurts mommy and they can't do that.

 

I usually just try to distract them, at this point - even if you were farther along they have no idea that there is a baby in there and I really don't think there is anything you can say to make them understand.

 

I would just say no too and keep repeating it, removing them from you and setting them down on the floor. Tell them that it hurts mommy. I'm not pg and I don't allow them to jump on me, babies in there or not, it hurts!

I posted this for something else but I think it may help you as the big thing here seems to be comunication.

My twins didn't stay in this stage too long as I had read a lot of books before they came and just followed what worked for me and them.
Things that I found really helped:
1. schedules/routine
2. music in their room, they have a princess cd player and lullaby songs, helps a lot as if one isn't tired but other is one will sing and dance until they are both sleeping, this helps in car too as know music and know time to sleep when it is on
3. signing, library has tons, look up baby signing ones they are best
4. using cave man speech from happiest toddler on the block book
5. I refrain using the word NO unless absolutely necessary I.E. to get them away from a dangerous or harmful situation quickly
6. Common words used in our house: careful, be nice (like be nice to sissy, be nice to the book, be nice to mommy), stop, stay, ouchy (will hurt if you touch), yucky (don't touch or mommy will be mad...lol), auh auh "while shaking head" (get that out of your mouth, or don't put in your mouth if you catch them before hand)
7. time out

Oh, also this might help too. I was in a car accedent when they were 8 months and caused a lot of back problems and I just let them know to be easy by saying what else "easy" lol. anyway this lets them know they are being to ruff and one of our rules is you have to listen to mommy and daddy or you get time out. Although we did practice with stuffed animals first to let them understand what easy means and gave them a few days to under stand. Then just be concistant say easy two times and if they arn't ask do you want time out once then follow threw and give time out if they won't lissten. it worked so well with my grils that I just have to say easy once and then they come over and rub the side of my face really easy and saying nice.
