How do you shower with them?

I am SO curious to hear how people bring their twins in the shower with them. What type of shower? Tub/shower combo? What if you just have a stall shower? I just feel like everyone would be slipping and sliding and it would make me a wreck! Is that really an easy thing to do??

Right now we still bathe ours with the bath rings together ... do you think they are old enough to lose the rings? I feel like they would be trying to crawl or walk all over the tub and the chances of someone getting hurt would be so much greater!!

    Thanks guys!

This isn't really an answer, but FWIW, we've tried this a couple of times at the pool, and IMO it doesn't really work. The kids (who were about 1.5 last summer, when we did it) were scared of the shower, and I was scared of them wiping out on the tiles and cracking their heads open.

The only time it worked for us was once when DH and I took turns in the shower (at home). He got in first, then I got Amy undressed and handed her to him. He washed her, handed her back, then washed himself while I dried her off & put her diaper back on. (Sarah was wandering around the bathroom.) Then he got out, I got in, and we repeated the process with Sarah while Amy wandered around the bathroom. That worked OK, but I wouldn't do it on a regular basis. It's not a very satisfying shower for the parent, for one thing. We only did it because we were all hot & sweaty and had to be at a brunch in less than an hour!

We've only showered one twin at a time with one of us (usually Daddy). When they were smaller, we would hold them in there. Now, they stand while we scrub them. We've showered Liam once or twice, but kind of a quick thing, he usually goes in the bath with his brother and sister now. (I never had the bath rings) And yes, bath time is CRAZY!!!

Ok, so to add to my questions .. do you have a hard flow of water? our shower head has pretty strong water pressure, and I'm not sure they would love it ... I guess I would be curious to see if it worked ... but boy do I LOVE my shower time ... I don't think I would want to share it with them!! hehe

I'm with you on that one! That is some of my only alone time these days, and now that the twins can open doors....not so much. Our water flow is not stong, but not too strong. We really started doing showers with them their first summer when we were at the beach for two weeks, we would bring them in the outdoor shower. Do you have a shower head with different settings? You could change the settings. FWIW, my husband is the one who pushes for showering them, not me!

I've brought the kids in the shower with me sometimes, usually when they needed a quick mid day rinse off. It's a stall shower, and the floor is not slick, tho there are no non-skid tracks on it. They don't really like being under the shower itself, but enjoy playing in there while I shower. I have to hold them and deliberately put them under the spray to wash them off, and they often complain loudly. But they get over it quickly. I also only do this when DH is around to handle the drying and dressing of the one coming out. They are slippery and slick and I have to hold hard to make sure I don't drop them - not an ideal situation - wish they enjoyed it as much as they do the sprinkler outside!

Normally, I wash the kids in the tub. Since they were about 8 months old, we switched from the kitchen sink tub to the bathroom tub. Got a non-skid mat for the bottom and filled the tub about 6 ins of water. After a few tries of this, with me out of the tub, I gave in. I get in the tub with them to protect from slipping and knocks. I'm not concerned about being naked in front of the kids, so it's never been an issue. They are just over 3 now and I still get in the tub with them. My back can't take leaning over the side for any length of time, period, so it's my only option. DH does take bath duty at times and he alternates between getting in, or leaning over the side to wash them. Eventually they will learn to bathe themselves, and I can stop taking baths with them, but in the mean time, nice for us to enjoy the water together.

I shower with the girls at least every Sunday, sometimes more often.
Our shower stall doesn't have a tub--but is large, almost the size of a tub and has textured tiles so it's not very slippery we also have a mat. Our shower is fairly strong as it is one of those super low flow things. I get in first while they are still taking off their clothes, and try to have my hair washed before they get in. Then I soap up me--and soap up each of them, then we rinse. Then I wash each of their hair. I use my hand to divert the water onto their heads to rinse off the shampoo--I'd love to have one of those shower heads on a hose things, but we don't. Then we all get out. I have also used our nuby step stool in the shower before when they were under two. It was a lot easier before they were experts at standing! I just set it so it was under the spray and turned the water on and off to soap up and rinse them each.

My 3-1/2 yo girls shower with me when I am in a hurry to get all of us out the door! Or simply when we all need a shower. 10 yo dd joins us. We have a large shower with 2 heads. I can turn the temp up on one, and the other can be for the kids.

More often, one of the twins showers with my 10 yo dd, and the other gets showered alone.

I've never showered with mine and don't intend to anytime soon. Mainly because thats ME time and baths are so much easier (and can be just as quick, really). It would stress me out too much to have to worry about two naked, slippery, active toddlers and a grown adult all in the same shower. No thanks!

To answer your other question, I've bathed mine in the big tub since about 7-8 months and have never used rings or anything. They are usually pretty good at sitting and rarely slip and fall (if they do, I'm always right there to catch them anyway). I use a stool to sit on to make it more comfortable. They have lots of comfort devices for bathing out (for the bather, not the bathee) that make it much easier. Our tub does have the non-slip surface too.

    Good luck!

I've only showered them after swimming at the gym, and that's in the family locker room and DH is there too. At home, it just wouldn't work trying to give them both a shower solo. Plus, my shower time is me time, I don't want to share it!

I have a bath mat that I bought at BRU in their tub, and they've been sitting togehter in the bathtub for a long while now, I'd say around 11 months? Before that we had one bath ring and they got separate baths.

we bring them in the shower with us all the time... we put the fish spout cover on give them toys to play with and they're perfectly fine and have sooo much fun. they don't normally slip and fall either.
