How do you put them to sleep...

Now that we are crawling and rolling, I can't just lay them down to sleep as they are crawling and climbing around. They are tired but more interested in everything else but sleep! How do you get them to sleep if they won't sit still? :help:

I have always just laid them in their cribs, and eventually they lay down and fall asleep. Sometimes they play for awhile.

I, too, just lay them in their crib and let them do what they want until they fall asleep. This makes for some funny sleeping postions!! I tried to keep going in and laying them down over and over, but they thought it was a game and that took even longer! Also, I noticed that once they were doing these things for awhile, it was no longer as interesting and they didn't do it all the time. Good Luck!

I wound up laying them on my lap and patting their backs. I let them sleep on the couch so I may have to break out the PNP to put them to sleep. I was thrown off as they usually go right to sleep. There should be a warning label about this or something!

I totally agree with Twinlove! Jack must have been sitting up and got so tired he fell asleep like that. I went in to find him in a kinda sitting postion but leaning over! I often find Sophie squished in the corner of her cot with her bum in the air!! They must be so uncomfy but hey whatever works for them! x

Mine are not crawling yet; however, they do roll, twist, turn, etc. I just put them down in their crib and eventually they'll play themselves to sleep.

I always just lay them in their cribs. Eventually they will zonk out. Nowadays they have to "talk" to each other and laugh with each other for a while before settling down.

One I nurse to sleep and then put down and daddy bottles the other one to sleep and then puts her down. (he calls it nursing lol)

We lay them in their cribs and they do whatever they want. We find them in all sorts of positions (though usually I think when they get really sleepy, they lay themselves down -- they don't just conk out while sitting up or something). I can't imagine them sleeping in a bed and using a blanket and pillow -- how will we know which end of the bed is the top? :D

Can I ask those of you who just put your babies in their cribs and they "fall asleep" ... don't they cry? I am at my wits end right now, I am crying just typing this. :( Our babies will not fall asleep when in their cribs. They will play for a bit, but then cry and cry and cry. I go in, give binkys, pat them and then I walk out and they cry and cry. I hate it so much. I feel so horrible that they are crying, but the only way they will nap otherwise is if I rock them - well, when you have two, that is not so easy to do, as you all know. I can be rocking one and then the other starts crying and wakes the other just as I am getting him or her down, etc.

How did you get your babies to just fall asleep after playing? Are mine just too young still?

Sorry, Erykah for hi-jacking your post here, but I am hoping for some guidance, too. Thanks!

My babies sometimes do cry before they settle themselves down to sleep. Do you have a mobile that you can turn on? It sounds like you are doing CIO? But aren't too comfortable with it? I did CIO with all of my boys, and it worked for them. Please try not to feel so bad. It is hard with two babies, and you just have to do what works for you! :hug99:

Thanks, Becky, yes I guess I am doing CIO, but not intentionally. I am just not sure what else to do. I literally have no idea how to deal with both of them at once to get them to sleep, so it seems I always have at least one crying. I am just not sure how much longer I can do this without losing my mind. I just pray that sometime soon they will figure out a way to soothe themselves to sleep before I jump off of a cliff.

    DON'T JUMP!

Ok really, are you putting them down at the same time every day? Mine were taking two longish naps and one cat nap at that age. So around 9, around 12, and around 4ish. With the last one being a short one, just to get them to bedtime without a major meltdown. Start there. Put them in there, turn on the mobile, and put their pacis in. Make the room dark, turn on a noise machine if you have one, and walk out. Go take a shower. They will go to sleep. Also, if they take a paci, put about 12 in the crib with them, so they can begin to find them on their own without your help. If they are still crying when you get out, which I doubt that they will be, I hope anyway! Go in and reinsert pacis, turn on the mobile, and walk out again. :hug99:

We actually started rolling them in a blanket from the waist down. It keeps them from standing back up right away. Still working for us and Kevin is walking now. I am sure eventually it won't though!

Its awesome to hear they are crawling... can't wait to meet them at the TS Outing in May! :)
