How do you play outside?

Hi! My guys are 11 months, so I hope it is ok for me to post this question here, since I think you guys may have more experience with this.

How do you go outside? I know this sounds stupid, but beyond leaving them in their stroller, I'm not sure what set-up would work for us to play in the yard. I don't have a deck or other enclosure, just a backyard with a lot of stuff they need to stay out of. They are getting close to walking.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

We have a big backyard and our problem was trying to keep them within view. So I set up a big play yard. We used the Super Yard with a couple of extentions and just made really big circle and when they were still crawling I put a big sheet down under it.
You could also try the leashes. Good luck!

I take my 20 month olds to toddler playgrounds that are fenced. This way they can run free without me having to worry about one running away! The playgrounds that only have climbing equipment that suit my kids' size are ideal because you don't have to help one kid on a bigger playground while trying to keep your eye on the other - if that makes sense. I've actually found quite a few fenced playgrounds now that I've been on the lookout for them. Often schools have them. Hope that helps!

Another vote for fenced playgrounds! I also found a baseball field that is nearby and enclosed. It works when no one else is there.

Have you thought about enclosing part of your yard? It would make life so much easier when both of your little ones are up and running. I would LOVE to have a yard. We only have a small patio, and spend the rest of our outdoor time at the park.

My yard is fenced...and that has been a savior. Fenced in playgrounds would work too. I would look into the cost of fencing your back yard. It may help for years to come!

When my boys were really little, we'd take the Super Yard outside and let them crawl around in that. They got bored pretty quickly, so I just started taking them outside on the grass, and placing them on a blanket under a tree. Of course they never *stayed* there  but I'd just keep a close eye on them and bring them back if they wandered too far.

When they first started walking was the hardest for me. They were so unsteady, and every time we went out onto the driveway, Nate would fall on his head and get road rash. :( This phase only lasted a few months, and now they're running around like crazy. I just have to make sure they don't make a break for the road or play in the poison ivy!

We have a couple of used superyards I bought from our twins club, and it makes a nice big area for them to play on. We also have a closed in deck. I am lucky I have 2 older kids to help me wrangle the twins! Otherwise the leashes would work too.

I have to third or fourth?!? the Super Yard. We didn't set it up as a circle but we sort of enclosed a certain area while allowing some freedom to roam around. We also bought a small backyard climbing structure that they loved to play on that kept them in a general area as well as a water table. Sometimes it is just easier to stay inside though where you know they are contained and safe. Good Luck!
