when to go up a stage in nipples? My DH and my MIL have said we need to go to stage 2 nipples but I think they are still too young. But I have no idea about this. With DS we never did bottles, he was strictly BF until he was 1, so this is all still very new to me. So HELP please. What are the things to notice to know when to switch? TIA.
Mine refused to finish their bottles, I am assuming they had to suck to hard. I just changed to the next level nipple(avent) the number 2 wich is suppose to be for 3 months and up (my girls are 3 months adjusted). They really had to get used to it, because they suck so hard they get twice the amount of milk, and at first they did'nt like it, but they are getting much better, and I could'nt believe it they started eating 5.5 oz in one feeding instead of 4 - 4.5oz. Good luck, you will just have to try it to find out wether or not they will take them. (
So, maybe I will start giving them the stage 2. I just think they are so small still, their adjusted age is only about 2 1/2 months. Thanks so much.
You know it is interesting topic. I would give it a try and you'll know right away if it is works or not. Mia is still on #2. #3 makes her dribble and gulp too much and she refuses the bottle. Jacob on the other hand can drink from a #3 not problem. I can't remember when I switched them to a #2. Sorry.
Mine do dribble a lot also, but they did that from birth, and they got much better, so I am hoping that once they really get used to these once, they will stop that too.
I had to bring mine to stage 2 at 4 weeks....they werent getting it quick enough for them on the staeg 1 nipples. nate would fall asleep 2 seconds into a feed...it was just too much work for him.
I went to a stage 2 nipple to add food to the night time feeding. Even at their age now, I still use a stage one nipple in their "plain" milk bottles because it reduces gas bubbles.
