My twins are 3 months old, a girl and boy. The girl has always been a screamer. I've asked the doctor if it could be the formula and he said probably not because she's gaining wait and doesn't vomit. Wea anyways switched to enfamil, gentle ease and didn't see major improvement. However, when she eats she is sooo squirmy and cries and it taKES so long to feed her. When I asked the doctor again abouit this she said its probably reflux and to try alimentum first and if that doesn't help use prevacid. Anyways we're on allimentum and don't see major improvements. Could it be nothing or something else? BTW the screaming has been a little better the past month but, the squirming is really bad. What do you think?

Sounds like reflux...arching, crying while eating, are signs of reflux. They don't necessarily have to spit up to have reflux. In my experience, trying the hypoallergenic formulas did not help with the reflux. However, I do think that my kids have a milk sensitivity, and they have all been on soy. So...I guess what I am saying is, if the only problem is reflux, no, the formula change won't help. I would opt to try the Prevacid for a while if I were you. [IMG]

It sounds like reflux to me. My boys were diagnosed with reflux around 8 weeks. They wre squirmy, arched their back and screamed through bottles. They were gaining weight also and did not vomit. My boys were first put on Nutramigen and when that did not solve the problem they were put on prevacid. Once on the med, they immediately began to get better.

the nurse at the hospital when my girls were born told us that Ava
probably has reflux - because of the way she does after she eats -
    sure enough she does [IMG]

Luke has reflux worse than Dylan. Meds did not work for Luke, the only thing that worked for him was soy formula. I use Isomil Advance by Similac. It's my lifesaver. I put him on Soy formula while still on Prevacid and Zantac and now he eats his bottles without screaming, he is actually calm!! I'm afraid to take him off of his meds, because I don't know if it's the meds in combination with the soy or just the soy that is helping him. But anyway, I'd reccommend Soy.

Zantac didn't work. Alimentum doesn't work. So I think the next step is going to be Prevacid. We're seeing our ped next week and I want to discuss the issue with him first before setting up another appointment with the GI specialist.

My son has reflux and we've treated it for a few months. I breastfeed and recently went off dairy and soy and have seen a marked improvement in my big reflux son. He's hardly needing his medicine anymore. Maybe your kiddo had an issue with diary protein or soy protein and that was causing reflux like symptoms to be worse.

I believe most kiddos outgrown these kind of intolerances... just takes the system to mature a bit. Oh well, just a thought.

    Cheers,

Sounds like reflux! Zantac made my daughter vomit. If she takes a long time to eat, you may want to get her evaluated to see if she has good sucking power or needs some PT. Both of mine don't suck well and one takes about 30 minutes to eat because she is so bad.
