How do you know if you're over-feeding your kids?

The other day DH and I looked at eachother and both wondered out loud, "are we over-feeding our kids?" They aren't little, wee ones if you know what I mean! DS is over 23 lbs for sure. He is a heavy load :FIFblush: DD isn't a light one either at around 22lbs.

On average they are having 19-22 oz of formula a day. We're giving them more water too.

Breakfast is usually fresh kiwi, pear or another fruit diced, cheerios, and either oatmeal or yogurt

Lunch is usually a meat (chicken meatballs), a bit of veg (corn, peas, etc), a little avocado, fruit and a mum mum

Dinner is where we get all our dairy: yogurt, fruit, cheese, grain crackers and tofu (either banana or mango/peach)

They are having milk every 4 hours most of the time. Somehow though it still feels like we are always feeding :headbang:

    Does this sound about right?

    thanks for your advice

Sounds fine. You really cant overfed a baby. They eat till they are full. Babies listen to their bodies, so I wouldnt worry about it.

They are very good at that, so pay attention to their cues that they are full. Don't pressure them to take one more bite, clean their plate or stuff like that.

We can't ever never over feed our kids. They are the bosses in our family. When they are hungry, we are happy to feed. When they are full, we can't add even 1 more drop in their mouths hahah.

Sounds like a great diet to me.
And like the others have said, you can't really over feed them. Just don't force them

It sounds to me like you are doing just fine. Our boys are big, too. Michael is over 23 lbs and Gabriel is over 21 lbs (90th and 75th percentile). Our pedi said not to worry because they are about the same percentiles on height and weight. They get 22 and 24 oz. of formula a day, and it sounds like about the same amount of solids as what your LO's get. Gabriel sometimes will not finish his cereal in the evenings, but Michael ALWAYS finishes everything. Our boys get 3 bottles a day, 3 meals, and a small snack. Michael would probably eat more - I know everyone says they will stop when they are full, but seriously, I don't think he will, so I work hard to keep him balanced - getting enough that he isn't hungry and crying, but not stuffing himself either.

Sounds like they are doing awesome! I agree-just let them tell you when they are done, vs you saying, "One more bite!" Kids are pretty smart, regardless of age! :)
