How do you keep your girls from taking off hair accessories?

My little girl takes off everything I put in her hair, rubber bands, hair clips, hair pins...nothing stays on for more than a minute or two. How do you keep your girls from taking them off? Are there particular products that are hard for 1 year olds to pull off?

I just don't, lol. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear, but I don't want to deal with the headaches and being worried they will choke on it... Of course, she doesn't have long enough hair anyway.

I have one who will leave it alone and one who pulls it off. If I can distract Amelia when I first put the bow in her hair then sometimes she forgets it's in there for awhile. There's nothing I can do about Amelia pulling her bows out.

All I can say is, keep trying ... Hailey always used to pull out her ponytail or pig tails ... just recently she started leaving them alone, and now she asks for a pony tail or pig tails ... Maybe it's just the age ...

Our rule is either you leave it in or you can't wear it. They were much worse about pulling them out until they were older and understood the rule. So maybe like Erica said, its the age.

When my girls get in that phase, I just quit using things at all. They will eventually grow out of it. It's frustrating though, huh?!

i'm still having this problem with my girls. i even use those teeny tiny little rubber bands and are hard to take off... my girls are so determined, they rip their hair out with it!
i just keep trying. but i keep an eye on them, because as soon as it comes out of their hair, it seems to go in their mouths

My girls won't keep anything in their hair except those itty bitty elastics. I tell them repeatedly how pretty they look and what big girls they are, make a big production out of it and they leave them alone, or they will touch it and say 'pretty'.

Sorry, I had to throw that out there :pardon:

One of my girls has hair, the other does not. I tried to put headbands on Brooke so she would look more girly but to no avail. There is no keeping it on her head. Her sister Hailey used to fight me tooth and nail about pulling her hair back, but DH threatened to cut her hair to get it out of her eyes, so I have to pull it back, every day. She used to squirm and try and get away from me, and pull it out as soon as it got in, but I was determined, and kept telling her no when she would try to pull them out. Now she will let me pull her hair back. I sit her in my lap and hand her a book while I do it, and she doesn't pull them out. (I have started to brush Brooke's head everyday also, to get her used to having her hair done so that when it does finally grow in hopefully it won't be a battle.) I use the teeny tiny elastics, I bought them in the baby aisle at Target for like $2, and I think I got about 1000 in there.

As for the brother part, I discipline. with a firm loud " NO! We do not pull our sisters hair" and then some redirection.

For DD to leave it in, I let her play with something while I quickly fix her hair and normally she forgets about it. GL
