how do you handle?

How do you handle when you only decide to fix one bottle because only one baby is crying. And because it's nice that you can spend quality time with your one baby. Well right in the middle of bottle feeding the other decides they are hungry too and is screaming their head off. How do you handle that one?

That would be tough. We've always (well I guess since about 2 weeks old) fed the babies on a schedule and at the same time - every three hours until 3 1/2 months, and then every four hours. So we've always fixed both bottles at the same time.

I guess I would set down the baby I was feeding somewhere safe/secure and go fix the other bottle and feed them both!

Oh yeah, I also love the feedings when I have help, so I get to just snuggle and hold them.

I learned this a 2 weeks of age... always feed them at the same time... whether you think they are hungry or not.. That always happened to me. everytime I would sit down to feed one... 5 minutes later the other would get hungry. Mine have been fed at the same time since they were 2 weeks old, and it has worked out wonderfully. Good luck.

Ha! My gut always tells me to feed both at the same time but I always hate wasting formula when one isn't quite yet ready to eat. Plus I love feeding one at a time because I feel so guilty not being able to hold each one individually and talk to each one. I guess I should just get over that...for sanity purposes, right?

RIGHT!! Early on, I knew there were probably 3 feedings a day I would have to do by myself, but then in the evening, overnight and on the weekends my husband was around and always fed one baby and I'd feed the other. That's how I got my fix!!

eventually they won't waste formula because they will be on the same schedule. I felt the guilt thing too, but one way is if someone is there with you they can feed one and you feed the other, and then you could switch of the next feed and do the other baby. My dh thinks I am crazy when i tell him which baby i want to feed. It is a big life saver and it definitly helps at night if you are doing the feedings by yourself. otherwise you would be able to get like an hours sleep in between feedings. Hope you can figure out what works best for you.

i understand how you all say to feed at the same time but how do you bottle feed both at the same time when no one is there to help? and they are both crying their eyes out.

I tried some different things but what worked best for me was sitting on the couch with one baby on each side. I had one boppy but had to go out and get another (I should have registered for 2). PLace a baby in the boppy so you have one on each side. Below is a picture.

I did not love these bottle proppers but they worked a little. Some people really like them. If I did it again, I would have gotten the kind that are attahced to a pillow.

That is exactly what I do too (right down to the feet up on the coffee table)! I always keep a Nuk nearby, so if I have to stop feeding for burps etc, I can pop it in!

I've searched on line for bottle proppers (or whatever you call them). Does anyone know of a store where I can buy one...target? babies r us?

    Thanks so much!

I had these and LOOOOOVED them. My SIL ordered them for me after too many feedings by myself and losing my mind. I got mine on the same schedule because I think I would have lost my mind if I had to feed one or the other all day. I also put mine in their boppy, with their bottle holder. It was the easiest way for all of us. I would stop one at a time during the feeding to burp.

I always fed them both at the same time to 1. avoid that situation and 2. save time!!
