So my lil babies are getting SO big, but not sitting up too much on their own yet. I feel like they are getting too big for their infant seats, but I don't know how else to get them in the cart since they can't sit up. I guess they're stuck in their infant seats until they are better sitters....

But then again, where do you put them when they are sitting well? In the big part of the cart, or do you squeeze them both in the kid seat on top. Do they make a shopping cart cover for twins???

    What are you ladies doing??

I know it sounds difficult but I push their sbs stroller and pull the shopping cart. They like to look around. I did it once in desperation and then realized it was something I could do on a regular basis.

I can't wait to hear the responses! I had a panic attack about that today! How do you do it with infants??? Maybe I can just talk my DH into stopping by the store on his way home from work. ;)

I did not bring them when they were infants. I started pushing them in a stroller around 7/8 months

DH and I take turns going shopping at night, after the babies are in bed. It is soooo much easier than trying to do it with the kids along. Or else we go on weekends and each take one cart.

The author of "Ready or Not, Here We Come" claims she could push one cart with one baby in it, and pull another one with the other baby in it, but fortunately I have not been forced to try that yet.

I did/do the same. Push the stroller and pull the cart. However once they can sit up I have put them both in the bigger fronts seats at Costco or Sams kind of facing each other with the one outside leg on each kid hanging out and the other bent into the middle. KWIM? Its a hard picture to describe but for quick trips in and out I can do it that way. But if I have to do more than a few things...I push/pull--I find it much less stressful for all involved.

They do make shopping cover for twins but only for the big carts you find at Sams, Costco, etc... If you do a google search I think something like buggy bagg comes up and I think I may invest in one but I am not crazy about the pattern for 2 boys (leave it to me to be quirky about that). Hope this helps.

With my infants I put one in a front back carrier (We have an Evenflo Snuggli that turns into a backpack as well) and the other is in their car seat in the cart. My husband and I usually do that even when we go shopping together so we just need one cart. I don't know when they'll be too big for their carrier. I hope not for a while because those things are so helpful, especuially when I'm on my own. The thought of pushing one cart (or stroller) while pulling another one is not something I really want to do but may have to, once they are too big for this method.

I didn't take them to the store until they were old enough to sit in the front together. I didn't want to go through the mess of a stroller and grocery cart. They are almost 9 months now and I can still put them together in the front. I just put both their legs through one hole or I have one leg through and the other folded. I think it is easier to have them sitting up front because I can give them toys and treats while we eat.

I push the stroller and pull the cart, and have always done it that way.

My husband used to do the shopping when they were younger. I'd make up a list and he'd go. Now, we both go and the girls sit in their own seats (the carts are to small) unless we get lucky and find a cart with one of those little car things on it, then they can both fit in one cart. We almost always end up with 2 carts either way....... I hope I don't ever have to push and pull! When I'm by myself, these days anyways (8 months) I just take one baby and leave the other with DH, so she'll fit in the cart just fine wherever we are.....

I don't! I have never taken my 3 children grocery shopping with me. I didn't even take my oldest DD until she was around 3. It's just too hard. DH is home early enough that one of us just goes in the evening. I have run into Walmart for a few things, and by few I mean whatever I can fit in the bottom of my stroller, but I will never do full blown grocery shopping with my twins. Hats off to those who do though. :bow2:

I usually left mine home with dh or my 13y ds. If I had to take them when they were that young yet. I used the infant seats. My boys are quite tall. They were 32 in at 1. Now I buckle them into the 2 person toddler carts.

I do one of two things - depending on how many items I have to buy. We are a family of six. I shop once every two weeks. On that day I go to:
The Health food store (to get the foods my son isn't allergic to)
    Farm market
    Super Walmart
    Meijers
    the local meat store.

For the big stores I usually end up with two carts. When I have two carts I put a baby in each cart. If they are sleeping when we get there I keep them in their seats and just snap one in each cart. If they are awake I put one in each seat and buckle them in (we are a sight - two carts with a baby in each, an 87 year old in a wheel chair, an autistic 7 year old, and a 5 year old princess!) For the smaller stores I put one in the cart and the other in the Bjorn.

That is how I do it!

I like to push the stroller and pull the cart. I do this for trips to BRU, supermarket, bj's, walmart, etc.

Once I had each baby in carseat -in large part of s-market wagon and remember the push pull was easier on me--weight -wise but I haven't done that in a while.

I can't believe Matty will be out of the infant carrier soon----WHATEVER will I do without my double snap n go. It is so easy to shop when pusing that and pulling the shopping cart. I also have a BJCSD. I have not tried that alone in the big stores with a shopping cart. I will misss my SNG< sniff sniff.

I'm with you! We take turns on weekends, while the other parent stays home to watch the girls. It's just too much of a hassle: I've tried the push/pull with cart and stroller, doable, but a pain, and you get a lot of stares. If I forget to buy something on the weekend, we do a quick trip with the stroller and I put the few items in the stroller basket.

I'm pretty much with minette although dh usually stops at the supermarket on his way home from work or I go after he gets home so he can watch the girls. For big shoppings, we do it on weekends with each girl in their own shopping cart. If they would make double shopping carts (like Sam's club does) then I could shop with them by myself but I have tried the whole push the stroller and pull the shopping cart thing at Target and it was incredibly frustrating and disasterous. I kept bumping the cart into things. I don't use those seat things and never have. I do believe they make a double one but I usually would just wipe down the bar with antibacterial stuff. Now I hardly ever even do THAT anymore. I was once told that it's really important to not let our kids live in a completely germ free world because then their bodies won't develop the any immunity to them. Makes sense but at the age of yours, I was still very germ phobic.

One in the cart, one in the Baby Bjorn. Better still, shop while DH is home with the babies.

This is what I do! Of course the list has to be very detailed with the brand name and amount since for some reason, even though he eats the bread, he didn't know what kind it was!

Mine weren't great sitters until recently (they took until about 7 months to sit up) and so what I would do for smaller trips is either just use the stroller, and put the few items I needed in the bottom basket (I have a DuoGlider), or put both carseats in the cart, one in the basket and one in the main part, and fit all the food I could get around the babies and on the bottom part of the cart. I haven't tried to sit them in the carts yet, and we don't have double carts here, so ... ??? Not sure what I'll do now. If it's big shopping I actually do it at night when my honey is home, or when someone can watch the kiddos. But for Target/Wal-mart runs and things I just plop them in the stroller or cart and off we go.
