How in the world do you go grocery shopping with twinfants?! I went to bru today and then to walmart. I had quite a few items to get so I grabbed a buggy. I didnt take the stroller in b/c i would have had no where to put the groceries - so i put one in the seat place and the other carseat in the buggy - i had no room for food. it was pitiful.

    how do you do it?

you need to get one of the baby carriers that strap to you. You can either get a single and then keep one in the car seat or they make twin ones. but that how i do it.

If I only need a few things, I push the double stroller, make 3-yr-old DD walk, and put things in the bottom of the stroller. If I have a medium-sized list, I wear one twin in my moby wrap, DD sits in the cart seat, and the other twin goes in the cart, with groceries/merchandise under and around him. If I have lots of stuff to buy (or big items), I push the stroller and pull the cart (with DD and merchandise in it) - be prepared for lots of strange looks and annoyed shoppers if you do this! ...or I wait and go shopping after the twins have gone to sleep (and DH is home), and I just take DD or go alone.

I absolutely WON'T do it. :icon_eek: In my opinion, it's not worth the hassle and I'll wait until DH can babysit. Grocery shopping is "me" time...as pathetic as that sounds! My sister would shop with her three kids (who are very close in age) and she'd strap one in a bjorn and the other in the cart while the oldest one walked. It gets me out of breath just thinking of it!

I'm impressed w/ you!! I only take the twins if DH can go with. Otherwise I go alone- which is actually nice since I get alone time. I'm also still scared to take them shopping, but I need to try :)

I've given up on big trips but when I do have to go shopping I use the double stroller. I use the basket underneath as well as stroller hooks to hook the handled baskets from the store to the cart. As well, I have some reusable bags that work quite nicely hooked to the stroller hooks and slung over my shoulder. Also, consider for big orders doing a grocery delivery service. We just used Peapod by Stop and Shop for the first time for the twins party and it was a Godsend! I loved having someone else carry the cases of water, soda, etc. into the house! Well worth it!

My DH does all of the regular grocery shopping, but if I need more than fits in the double stroller (but not TOO much), I put both of the girls in the cart (one carseat on bottom, one on top), and place larger items below and smaller items all around them, including in their carseats at times, lol.

Ditto, I did the stroller/cart thing until they could sit in the cart alone and then only shopped at places with double carts (costco, sams, target, safeway)

I have never taken mine food shopping with me for the same reasons another poster stated...it's just too much and it would take me forever plus as much as I hate it I have a quiet cup of coffee while I fill my cart. So I have always gone when DH is home on the same day every week early in the morning after I drop my SD off at school. For regular everyday shopping I take the Duoglider and everything fits fine.

Some grocery stores have carts with holes for two sets of legs :) I shop at one that does, so both of my kiddos can sit up front! Wheeee!

(and if your grocery store doesn't...write letters, ask them...the more people that do, the more likely they will get double carts!)

i have the snap and go so would only get as much as would fit in the bottom. BRU will carry out large items to your car for you. otherwise bring a friend - another option 1 in the bjorn the other in the cart seat. i'mn going to try that one when my girls get better at sitting.

I never do, but I think the way you did it is the best possible way (unless you're lucky enough to have a store with two-seater carts). When my twins were small, DH and I would wait till they were in bed and then one of us would go alone.

I didn't do it when they were that young but when I had to go to the store to just get one or two items I would use the bjorn carrier and one in the carseat in the front. It also worked from people stopping me every 2 feet so I could get in and out and be done before they had a meltdown. Now that they are bigger, they can sit in the cart together or I take my stroller and put items in the basket below or on top of my canopy.

I never did it when they were infants. I'd only take them if I were buying a small amount that could fit into the Duoglider basket. They stayed home with DH, or I ran out during my lunch hour to the store (while the nanny was here). Nowadays I will occasionally take them because they can sit in those double seater big carts stores have. One store has a car cart that plays videos, they really like that. And I always take them to Costco, they have the best carts.

I used to put one infant carrier in the seat area, one in the cart part, then put my groceries under the cart and or in a shopping basket that I carried in my hands. I only got a few things at a time when I took the babies with me. When my husband could go along, I would stock up on the other things I needed, or the bigger things that don't fit under the cart or in the hand basket.

Back when my girls were infants (about 5 - 6 years ago), my biggest challenge going to the grocery store was finding a store where they would leave the carts in the parking lot. A couple of times I struggled carrying two carriers all the way into the store only to find no carts. I would sometimes drive around a store's lot and if there were no carts out, I would just go to a different store. Now most stores have cart corrals in the parking lot, and some even have reserved parking next to them for mothers with infants. I complained to many store managers about their cart policies, but all of these great changes came a little too late for me. They also didn't start having those double seated carts until my girls were no longer riding in carts. Alas!

I only do big grocery shopping with DH because our car's trunk can only fit the stroller and nothing else. If I were to go just with the boys, there would be no room for grocery's since I would need the stroller. When we go, we each take a cart and a baby and leave the stroller at home.

I guess if I went by myself, I could put both carseats in one cart and follow with an empty cart but that to me seem like too much work. I'd rather wait and go with DH.

i either send DH to go shopping or we go together. sometimes i go alone though. itried to go shopping with them but could never get too much and the stores around here don't have double shopping carts only single ones.

I usually wear one and the other rides in the car seat on the buggy. But I've also done the push/pull thing too. The only time it's cumbersome is checking out. But I usually go at odd times mid-week, so it's not as busy. I also usually only go to a check-out that has someone already checking out. That way I don't feel rushed unloading the buggy. I also always have my debit card ready so I don't have to fumble with that. I swipe that first and enter my pin that way I'm ready to load bags as the cashier is bagging.
It's really not so bad for me. Maybe because these are my only kids, so I have nothing to compare it to. I enjoy getting out (it's usually the only time we go out) and I love watching the babies look around. They love it.

If I need alot of things or bigger things, I push the stroller and pull the cart...can be a PIA, but the more you so it the easier it gets :) Now that they are sitting up, I try to just have them sit in the cart:)

when I have someone with me..WOW it does make it SOO much easier :)

I wear one in a Baby Bjorn and since they can now sit up, the other guy gets to sit in the basket. I figure it is good exercise grocery shopping with a 20 pound weight strapped to my chest :D

Since DH works overseas I do everything by myself with the kids - I'd rather get a babysitter to go out with friends than shopping. When they were smaller & didn't hold their own heads up I would either
*put them both in the stroller (SBS - never had one that took carseat so always transferred them) and pull a cart behind me
*leave one in carseat (put in the seat part of cart) and carry one in sling
now it's pretty much the same thing except they can actually sit in the cart now but I usually put them in the stroller so the whole cart is free
the older girls are always "helping" some way ;) but they typically are around the stroller holding on and my oldest likes to steer the cart behind me
maybe I've been lucky but I've never gotten any rude comments or looks - but then again I prob look a lil too crazy with all my kids for anyone to get the nerve to try! lol

One baby in carrier in the seat of the cart, one baby on me in a sling or wrap. Toddler on her "backpack" with the tail looped to the cart. Yes, I take twins and a 3 year old to the store.

I always shop with my kids in tow. It's not really hard, I just do it. I have the duoglider stroller and the twins are in there. My 4 year old rides in the buggy until it starts to get full and then she will ride on the front or back. I push the stroller and pull the buggy behind me. I do this for 6 different stores in one day so I get a lot of practice. I also only do this with a 5 seater car. I put everything in the front passenger seat once the trunk is full (stroller and diapers)Once you set out a pattern and follow it you get really accustomed to getting your babies out and about.

I pushed the stroller while pulling the cart. I still do this sometimes if I'm at a store where they don't have double-seat carts.
