How do you get your babies to STTN?

Once in a while I will get a good five hour sleep and twice this week Sophia slept ALL night! But when do they start doing it regularly? Is there anything I can do to help them? More milk at last feeding? Try to keep them up more during the day? Keep them out of the swing so they stay up longer?

They are still waking up at 9 or 10 and then of course the 3 o'clock feeding and 6 am feeding.

I know all babies are different, but does anyone have any tips? Sophia weights almost 13 lbs and Isabella is 14.5 lbs. Do they tend to start sleeping through the night after 4 months with cereal before bed??????????

    Thanks...

For us there was nothing magical about STTN. When they were ready, they did it at 9.5 months. I would say the schedule that you are on sounds perfect for their age. Cereal will not help them STTN. Hang in there. It will come.

Ditto PP. Mine did it when they were ready, at 7 months.

My boys just started to STTN. I am shocked. I do not know if this owrked or not, but this is what we did.

When they would cry, we would go in and pick them up and try to sooth back to sleep before starting feeding. Eventually, the feedings grew further apart during the night. They still eat about every 4 hours during the day though.

Good luck and hang in there!

Totally agree. Each baby will do it when they are developmentally ready. Hang in there, it sounds like you are doing great.

Mine started sttn at around 4.5 months. I would give them their last bottle at 7pm and when they would wake up out of habit (same exact time every night), I would give them their paci and stretch them as long as possible. It takes a lot of patience and some sleeepless nights, but it's way worth it in the end. It only took a couple of days until they really sttn. Actually dd only took one night. Ds on the other hand was stubborn and took longer. I just make sure they get what they need during the day as far as feeding. They eat larger bottles now every 4 hours from 7am to 7pm then they sttn! I don't think it's a weight issue, the baby does have to be ready and mine definitely were. They were both around 11 lbs when they sttn. Dd was definitely ready..you can just tell.
