How do you get them out of the car?

I can't figure this out! Today I banged poor Annika's head on the car door trying to hold her and get Ainsley out of her seat. I was almost dropping them both, so that's NOT going to work.

I hate to leave one in the car even for a minute to get to and from the daycare from the street. And they cry and get scared when I do that. It's too short a distance to use a stroller...

How do you do this? I've thought of just putting on the sling everywhere I go and putting one in the Bjorn, then getting the other baby out.

Help! I have all these errands to run today and I have no help and I don't know how to do this!! What am I going ot do this winter???

    Good question!

Still to this day I every once in a while bang one of their heads on the top of the door... things like that just happen.

i use the stroller. No matter how short the distance, if i'm alone with them, I put them into the stroller...

I usually walk twice if the car is parked in front of my home, putting one in a Bumbo close to the front door (we live in the big city so just street parking). When I go somewhere else, depending on how close I can park, I either walk twice again and/or get the umbrella stroller out to pop them both in. I guess it's now waiting until they can walk / stand ... to make my life easier again!

If I'm at home I do the one at a time thing. In with one, plop her down somewhere safe, run out to get #2. There are days I'm feeling strong and will put one on the floor of the van in front of me with my knee on her belly so she can't go anywhere, then get the one in the seat and pickup the one on the floor. My poor girls have been treated like little rag dolls so often it makes me feel so bad!

If I am not able to carry both of them, then I use the stroller. It can be a pain in the butt, but I have no other idea how to do it. Ahhh...the joys of twins!

I always use the stroller too. I have never been able to carry both of them at the same time...I guess I am a wimp because even when they were teeny tiny I could never carry both of their infant carriers at the same time either. LOL! Maybe that is why I didn't leave the house alone with them until they were almost 5 months old!

I would say do the sling thing or maybe buy a cheapo single umbrella stroller you can carry one and pop the other one in it then cart them in to daycare.
don't even want to think about winter, but your girls will probably be walking by then ;)

I use the double stroller too when Im on my own except for the Drs office. Theres not that much room there for the double so I might have to break down and buy a single stroller then put on the carrier once the girls are back in school. I cant believe they want $15 for a crappy cheap umbrella stroller. Oh well what can u do. Wish I could get the double carriers, that would be nice.

I used the stroller, no matter how short the distance. Once at least one of them walks, it gets a bit easier. You still have to corral the walker, but at least you don't have to hold both. I kind of keep the walker in front of me trapped between my car and my legs.

I use a double stroller unless they have stairs I can't get around. Then I have to use a baby backpack. (Lifesaver!)

    No fun!

I tested this out today. I know I won't be able to carry them in their infant carriers for too much longer so, I put one in the Bjorn and one in a sling on my hip, leaving my other shoulder for a diaper bag. It totally worked for short distance, even easier than carrying them in the car carriers, although not as easy loading and unloading. It was kind of tough getting the one in the sling on my hip, but not too bad. I'm sure I'll bonk one of their heads most of the time, I'll just try to do it more gently :) I think I'll only be doing this for real quick trips or in places where our stroller won't go. We have a MBUD and it can go pretty much anywhere which is nice.

We also live on the second and third stories of an apartment building with few neighbors and in a totally safe spot so I invision once we move them from their infant carriers to their convertible ones, I'll just carry one at a time up the stairs, putting them in a safe place and going back down for the other. In the house I can still manage to carry them both up and down the stairs but outside is another story all together.

Sorry to hijack your post :)

Sara, love that pic of you and your girls!! I can't carry both at the same time. When I am home I do one at a time as quickly as possible. When I am out, I used the stroller always. It gets to be a pain but I feel more secure that way.

I always use the stroller unless I'm in front of my house where it's safe to leave one while I bring the other in. They are totally used to it and never cry because they know I will be back for them (and I actually lock the car while they wait for me). As for being at another place I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that so I put them both in the stroller. Perhaps you could get one of those single, cheap and very light weight strollers and then you can put one in the stroller and carry the other? You could keep it in the car so that it is quickly accessible. Other than that, not sure what you could do other than what you are doing now. It's just one of those pain in the butt things to deal with when having multiples <_<

I always use a stroller. It seems goofy to spend more time putting them in the stroller and wheeling them in than it would to quickly grab one and come back for the other, but it's safer to have them with you at all times if you can. It's an adjustment, but you'll get used to it. Long gone are the easy and breezy days of the infant seat. :(
