how do you get stuff done

I am pretty much with them alone during all of their waking hours, many times even on the weekends to. Their room is really too small for them to play in on the floor or in exersaucers and the hallway is too. So my question is, how do you get anything done in their room? Like changing sheets, putting clothes away or even cleaning it? Do you do this when they are sleeping or what? Most of the time I end up doing it when they wake up or are going to sleep and they are not happy that I have kept them waiting and it is always in a rush and I really need to go through their closet and take my time. I am not sure how to go about this, when I have got them with me. Any tips?

You could always put them both in one crib, while you change the sheets on the other, if you have 2 cribs. They could also play in their crib with some toys while you are cleaning out their closet. I didn't/don't do it while they are alseep...too much of a chance of waking them up!

I do the crib thing too now. I just toss them and a whole bunch of stuffed animals they haven't seen in a while in one crib. Sometimes I throw in their favorite "toys", a brush, bottle of lotion, you know all those things they grab because they can't! :)

It's really tricky for me, because we live in a 1 bedroom condo, with one crib in the living room and one in the bedroom. The nap separately during the day & sleep together with us at night. So there's the added challenge of getting anything done in my own bedroom.

I manage, though. If DH is with the babies, I can vacuum in there & do other chores. If I'm on my own, I just put them in the crib so they can watch the amazing "Mom changing the bedsheets" show. :p

I have a box of toys in their nursery that I use for them to play with while I empty the diaper thing, change sheets, etc. The two-in-one crib idea is a good one. We have a decent-sized nursery so I just let them loose on the floor while I do my stuff, I put toys all over and let them crawl and sit and play.

I put them in to one crib right after a nap or do the 'stupid' sheets when daddy is home on sundays (it is so difficult to change, I hate doing it.)

Their room is so small I don't have the option to put them on the floor to play in there as it just fits a dresser, 2 cribs and a night table with very litlle walking space.

I wanted them to share a crib and we would have had that option but they wouldn't get ANY sleep if we had stuck with that plan.

I do their drawers and closets sometimes with a small flashlight when they are asleep and pray that I don't wake them.

I put them together in one crib while changing the sheets or going thru their clothes. To clean, I wipe the changing table down once a day with clorox anywhere spray. That I do while they are sleeping. Vacuuming doesn't bother them, so I either have them in one crib while I do it, or wait until I have DH around to watch them in the other room.

Now that they are interacting with either other, they can keep each other amused together in the crib for a few minutes at a time. This is great because I can get some stuff done and I've gotten some great pictures and video of them 'playing' with each other (the def of playing is chewing on each other's hands or feet! too cute!).

I usually put them in 1 crib with toys and fold their clothes or hang them up. I then take and change the crib that they are not in and then switch them to that one. So I can change the other. That I have to do every day because the leak their diapers most nights.

    Thanks for the tips ladies!

Hey have you tried diaper doublers at night? I never heard of them untill ts members told me about them. It is the greatest. Not a leaky diaper since we have been using them!

ditto ditto ditto, exactly what I do if dh is not around to watch them when I need to get it done. I just throw them into one of the cribs and put some books and toys in there and then transfer them over. I think they get a kick out of being in each others cribs since they don't do it often.

I got them here in Stop and Shop, my supermarket, but I have heard they sell them at Babies R Us.
