How do you clean house with 2 little ones following behind and wanting to 'help'? I just don't have time to do it after they go to sleep! And they hate to be gated in a room, even if they can see me. What do you do?
I give them each a small towel {because they can't tear that up into a million pieces, learned that the hard way <_<} and they follow me around and pretend to clean. I give them jobs, like to clean the walls or doors and that way they concentrate as long as possible on that. When we're in the bedrooms I throw all the pillows on the floor and let them have fun with those while I clean. In the kitchen, they have their own cabinet full of things they can play with, so that keeps them busy. The vaccum they get to turn on and off {alot, I may add} but it makes them happy campers. The only time I keep them gated is when I clean the bathrooms. :good: That's when Dora or Mickey entertains them for a few minutes. They do make messes while I'm cleaning but it's messes that can be cleaned up easily afterward. Is it possible to have your hubby or a family member watch them for a bit while you clean?
Mine are just now able to play in their room for awhile.......and though I can get a *few* things done in the front of the house while they play, by the time I'm done they've destroyed their room. So I don't see how that's a step ahead since then I have to clean the mess they made while I was cleaning. Most of the time it has to wait till they're down for naps or at night......translation: my house is usually messy.
Dusting, cleaning door jams with a wet cloth, cleaning their room. Productive things that might actually help one day when they are bigger.
I don't - I convinced Dh to let me hire a cleaning lady when I was preggers with the twins AND after we had moved into a bigger house. We are trying to sell our house now and are scrapping for $$$. As a result DH keeps telling me we need to get rid of the cleaning lady (she comes 2x a week) and I tell him the same thing each time - it is not discussable, drop it and do not bring it up again because it is the one thing I do for me and it KEEPS ME SANE! I should add that I work full time from home so any spare second I have while they are sleeping (I only have part time day care 3 days a week for 4 hours but I work full time) I am at my computer working. If you can make it work, try hiring someone. Even if you just hire them once a month, it is still a load off of your shoulders!
