how do you do all the feeds?

So our boys are now 8 months adjusted and we are giving them 4 or 5 bottles a day and feeding them twice a day. Think we need to move up to 3 meals a day, but wow---where is the time for that?? Is it just me or does it all take up your entire day??? The boys don't hold their own bottles, so it takes time to bottle feed too. we basically have this schedule:

    7:30 bottle
    8:30 breakfast
    11:30 bottle
    3:30 bottle
    5:00 dinner
    7:30 bottle
    10:30 bottle for one DS

If we add another feed in there, I dont' think there will be time to do anything else!! Getting them fed takes about 45 minutes ---

I guess I'm just wondering if this is how other moms feel? I'm really dreading adding the other feeding in...just seems so difficult!

Also--as I'm trying to add in fingerfoods--do you make it one of teh meals, or just add a little bit of stuff while you are giving them purees? Have no idea how to do this!! And I know it will just take more time as they are learning finger foods!! AHHHHH! Sometimes, I just think it is so much!!

Yes, for those last few months of the first year I felt like all I was doing was feeding them. But, by around a year, you can switch them to regular milk in sippies & table foods and it will seem less like you are just feeding all the time. Hang in there, not much longer!!

Oh boy do I know how you feel! My Twins are corrected age 2months and its insaine I litaraly feed none stop, I'm nursing and bottle feeding and both kids are not good at either. add in the horrible reflux and there dosent even seem like there is time to cuddle! I maybe get 2hrs of peace a day when I dont have to pound on a babys back or get my nipples nawed on (my son's starting to chew yay *rolls eyes*)

If you add a regular feed in can't you take out a bottle? I dont really have a solution for you just can comiserate! They say we'll make it threw I've yet to see that though :)

Yes, at that age, they were eating constantly! It gets better as you get them off of bottles. As far as finger foods, I gave them at the same time as purees. I would let them experiment with feeding themselves as I was sneaking bites of the purees in. GL!

I am totally there with you. We are up to 3 meals a day with 4/5 bottles. Just when I thought feeding was getting better with the bottles, felt like I was feeding less then we moved to food and wow I am right back to feel like I am feeding ALL DAY!

They just started to sleep through the night like 3 days ago. However when they wake up is seems to be earlier and earlier. UGH! Oh well. Here is what my schedule is like

up between 6 - 7 am (as the days went by closer to 6 am)
    Bottle 6:30 ish
    Breakfast 7 am
    Nap 2 hours after waking 8 - 9 am
Wake either 1 hour to 2 hours after
    then repeat for lunch
bottle then 1/2 hour later lunch
    Nap (same)
    bottle then depends maybe dinner
Nap (1/2 hour to 1 hour)
bottle unless didn't have dinner earlier then dinner no bottle
Bedtime about 6ish (tried to change it to 7 but refused since time change)

It isn't a bad schedule. Morning naps are usually the longest, they usually give me at least one nap that is at least 1 1/2 hour long, the rest is only 1 hour.

I refuse to get up before 6, so since they just started to STTN, I am still training them to go to at least 6. This morning they were up at 5:45 but just were talking. I didn't get them until 6:10 when they started to complain more.

I know it gets easier. I am not completely annoyed to feed them all day, at least it is different with the food.

I just wish they were more set in their schedule, nap wise. I know it may never be like that, but here is to hoping!!!

I remember it with my daughter at that age all I was doing was feeding her, now it should be soooo interesting with the boys, can't wait

My boys were on a 4 hour bottle schedule from the hospital, so I just added the meals in with that--we were on 4 bottles a day when we started solids. I would give them their breakfast and follow it with a bottle around 8. Then lunch followed by a bottle at noon (this one was dropped at around 7-8 months simply because the wouldn't drink it, and the ped. gave the OK). They had a bottle when they woke from their nap at 4, then dinner around 5:30, followed by a bottle before be at around 7. Giving a bottle right after solids didn't keep them from drinking their bottles, and I would give them finger foods to practice with while waiting their turn to either eat or have their bottle.

I always did solids right before or right after the bottles. Once we added the third solid feeding we moved to the four hour schedule so they had three meals of solids and bottles at about 8 noon and 4 then bedtime bottle (no solids) between 7:30 and 8 pm. With three older kids, I couldn't spend all day feeding babies!

Ditto. It does get easier after a year when you can just feed them and give them milk with their meal.

For me, the three meals has made life a bit easier because at least now I am feeding all four kids at the same time.

No real help for you but sympathy! We started ours on solids a little at a time when they were 4 months and now at 6 1/2 months we still are lucky to get them fed once a day. My hubby is home with them and I think he doesn't want to give up too much play time to get them fed and they still get BM/formula as primary nutrition so I'm not too stressed. It is also so messy that we tend to feed them at the end of the day so that if they get their clothes all stained it doesn't matter because they will be putting their PJ's on soon anyway! I am trying to figure out how to find time for it twice a day so I can't speak on adding a third but really all we are doing at this point is teaching them about different tastes and textures and it won't be important for them to get their nutrition primarily from food until they are closer to a year adjusted.
