With your twins going to bed at 7pm and you have family parties or something you want to bring your babies to.....I have so many holiday parties and want to show off the twins...But they go to bed at 7? (of course If I have to I wont go)

We are in the same situation...I don't know how old your girls are, but for me, I'm going to try to take them to one this weekend after their second nap. It's at my in-laws, so perhaps they will nap a bit...but, if they just get too fussy, we're going to go home. Besides that, I might skip the others.

I'd love to hear what others are doing.

I find someone to watch them or I don't go. It took me forever to get my girls on a schedule and I do my best to maintain it. If your babies are flexible maybe it would work for you. Or maybe you could get them to take a late nap so they are happy to stay up later. I know that for us, it would never happen it would be way too stressful!

How old are your kiddos? I've found as the girls have gotten older, I can push their schedule more. Last holiday season they were 9 months old and we went to some parties, but ended up leaving fairly early and the girls fell asleep in the car.

I don't go. Every time we've gone somewhere and came back later than 6pm, it was a screaming fest for 2 hours. Never again!

Mine are pretty flexible as long as someone is willing to entertain them or hold them when it's late. This last weekend we went to cut down our Christmas tree and they missed their morning nap but they were fine. We also had a birthday party for my niece on Friday. They got to bed an hour and a half later then usual. I put them in their jammies and changed their diapers before we left the potty. I also brought their bottles with me and fed them in the car on the way home. Then they were ready to be put in bed the moment we walked in the door. They were perfectly fine the entire time.

I find someone to watch them or I don't go. It's no fun for me to have 2 screaming babies at a party anyway. Same goes for dinner at my IL's. They live an hour away so we leave by 6 pm whether we've eaten or not.

i find that my girls are pretty flexible as long as we don't disrupt their routine more than a day in a row or more than twice in a week. sometimes we do have to "pay" for it though with overtired babies who have a tougher time going to sleep. mostly we've just become much choosier about which things we go to. we take into account how important the event is (ie is it a work function that it would be politic to attend?), how much their routine has been disrupted recently, and how generally stir crazy we're getting. i find it's about balance - it's definitely important in our house to maintain their routine as much as possible, but it's also important for us to get out once in a while too. we also have a couple of pea pod travel beds, so if we're going to someone's house, we just set them up in a spare bedroom & they will 90% of the time go to bed fine there until we're ready to head home.

I'm fortunate that mine are pretty flexible. DH's family does the feast of the 7 fishes on Christmas Eve and they live about 30 min away. Since there will be plenty of people there to hold them and give them tons of attention, I think the kids will be alright. We are going to take the PJ's and bedtime stuff with us, so at least when we get home we can give them their nighttime bottle and get them to bed. This will be our first big holiday with them, so we will see how it works. Great question!

I work around their nap and nighttime schedule. I also leave by 6pm. HTH :).

Mine are pretty flexible, too. I stressed so much about it with Thanksgiving, thinking it would mess everything up if we got off schedule, but they were totally fine, not even crabby from lack of nap! So we got brave and went to two other holiday gatherings since then. They seem to enjoy the change of pace (and being held to nap when it gets late). They go to sleep no problem when we get home, I just have to throw in a quick nursing session. IMO, I would say try it once if you're willing to suffer the potential consequences...you could have crabby babies who take forever to soothe, or they might surprise you and be totally fine. Good luck!

Mibe go to bed at 6 or 6:30. Honestly, I don't go. Once in awhile I make an exception, but we never stay long.

I just wanted to add that I think it's important to get your children to be flexible. A schedule is nice but it really puts a damper on things at times. They need to learn some flexibility and won't learn it unless you try out things that are not in their scheduled routine. They are babies and will get over it and you will be able to go about your life without worrying about what time it is. ;)

Our girls can be pretty flexible but can also get pretty cranky too... I was a little worried when we went to a nighttime Thanksgiving dinner that started after 5 and the girls usually go to bed about 6:30... However, they did great. We put them in their jammies and gave them a bottle before we left and they slept the whole way home then we just put them straight in the crib. As others have said, as long as they are being entertained, they are usually ok and will then fall asleep in the car.
