There were a few times when I couldn’t explain myself abroad and I felt really awkward. I want to figure out how to deal with this so I don’t lose confidence while traveling. And how the hell do you get rid of shame and awkwardness.

When I travel and face a language barrier, I usually rely on simple phrases, body language, and a lot of patience. Smiling and showing respect often open doors to better communication. I also keep a translation app handy for tricky situations. Interestingly, even reviewing basic grammar like comparative adjectives helped me express myself more clearly. Small efforts show locals you’re trying, and that creates a positive connection.
