how do you clean your high chair?

I got our high chairs 2nd hand & they didn't come with a little tray that will fit in the dishwasher. So normally I wash them in the sink with soap & a sponge. I don't like sponges, though, they never seem clean.

Does anyone know if that Spray Anywhere (I think by Clorox) is really safe for high chairs?? Or is there an alternative, safe way to clean them?

I always used a baby wipe to get everything off and then would use a paper towel and soap in the sink. That way I know it got clean because I used a new paper towel each time. It always worked well.

My mom on the other hand is a bit of a germaphobe. She uses Chlorox Kitchen Cleaner with a paper towel. I always felt that was so gross because I didn't feel like you could get all the cleaner off and the baby would eat it. But it never seemed to hurt the baby. She did it with 3 of my niece and nephews.

I just prefer paper towel and soap in the sink!

For our kithen counters & high chairs we use the Lysol brand "Food Surface Sanitizer". Something about Clorox/bleach we just didn't feel comfortable using on the high chairs.

I completely agree with your sponge hesitation...I cringe when I watch people use sponges. I feel like they are just giant bacteria traps spreading germs around. We purchased 10-pks of washcloths from Target for $2.99 each. The white set are for kitchen use and the colored set are for cleaning up the boys/highchairs.

First- I totally agree about sponges, and do not even own one for that reason [IMG]

Next, to clean the high chairs, on a daily basis I use Clorox wipes and then weekly I take them out to the driveway and use the pressure cleaner- I am always amazed at the gunk a baby can get into the smallest crevice. (The ones we have for the twins have removable trays but I still pretty much follow this protocol, just like with Micah's which didn't have a removable tray)

I use OxyClean spray..then I re wipe with a baby wipe to remove residue...whether it is actually removing any cleaner? I dont know, I'm just paranoid, although I'm sure its fine once its been wiped with the OxyClean spray [IMG]

I use windex. It gets the stuck on gunk off so well, and it's safe if ingested.

I wipe them down with a wet clean cloth and then spray the Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface Spray all over the highchair, including the trays to disinfect them. I then wipe that off with a dry clean cloth.
