How do you bottle feed your twins?

My twins are getting too big to set on a boppy and try to feed. I really don't know how other moms bottle feed their twins. Do you feed at the same time? I tried staggering them but it never works. Even if they are on opposite ends of the house, they just know that the other one is eating. This is fine when there is an extra pair of hands but when I'm alone I don't know how to make it easier on me. Any suggestions or advice is welcomed. Thanks guys!

I always feed my one after the other...they don't seem to care and if ones crying...well its not the end of the world...they will be ok waiting 5 minutes to eat. I usually give one a toy or put them in the exesaucer until its their turn.

There is no WAY I could feed one at a time because the other one knows that he is being left out. I put each one in a bouncy chair and bottle-feed them at the same time. Whenever I get the opportunity (if help is around) then I will always hold them when I feed. While feeding in the bouncy chairs is less personable, its sometimes the best I can do.
Thanks for the post....I'll be checking back to see what other ideas are out there.
My boys were 6 months on Feb 17th and they are each about 22lbs! They definitely like their food!! [IMG]

2.5 months old is when we switched to the Podee Hands-Free Bottle. The girls needed to be fed on the same schedule and I liked to be able to hold them during feedings. The Podee allowed me to do that since I didn't have to hold bottles. I took Ainsley about 3 days to get the hang of the Podee (they have to suck to keep the nipple in their mouths because you are not holding it in for them) and Sierra took about a week but it was time very well spent. By 3 months old, they refused all their other bottles and would only use the Podee. The Podees were a lifesaver for us and we used them in the stroller, at restaurants, on car trips, and to help wean them off night bottles (I could give them the Podee without picking them up). It was by far my favorite baby product.

  5. I wish I knew about the Podee bottle sooner. I never heard of it. Anyway, I would always feed one twin and put the other in a bouncy seat and prop the bottle with a blanket. I know its a "no no" but it worked great for me. I was always sure to rotate feedings with them so i could bond during feeding time.

Now that one of my girls has hit a colicky bad spot (cries all day unless I hold her...used to be only at night), I put the other in her bouncy chair with the Podee and hold and bottle feed my colicky one.

The Podee is okay...like a PP said, it takes some time for them to learn how to use it, but it's much easier to just push the nipple back into her mouth than to have to hold a bottle for two. Also with the Podee, it works by a siphoning type action, so the bottle has to be lower than the baby's mouth, which can get annoying. And when it the meal is almost finished, you have to make sure the tubing is in the milk or the baby will only get gas bubbles.

But even with these little obstacles, it's a real help when one just refuses to be put down. Plus, my girls are not quite 3 months, so I'm sure with more practice and maturity, they'll get the hang of it.

Oh yeah, one more thing...I'm going to get those Milk Maid bottle holders for the stroller. They look cool and people here have real good things to say about them. HTH!

Mine still use their boppys (on the floor) and I use Bottle Bundles. It has worked out great for us.

I always fed one at at time. Basically, he who cried first, ate first. Athough on the rare occation they were ready at the same time, I fed Jon first since he ate faster and didn't need to burp as often as Marc. Our schedule worked out so that 2 of the feedings occured right after naps, so by getting the one that woke first and feeding him, it naturally staggered the feedings.

I sit them in their high chairs, which recline, and feed them double handed at the same time. I burp them one at a time. If I need to be hands free, I prop the bottle with a blanket. We're all much happier this way. Feeding time is very unpleasant for all of us when one baby is screaming in the background.
