I don't really know what you mean by sceaming?
If it is playfull and just anoying? I started kind of a game/lesson on what is loud and what is quite, so they could practuce with their voices, which is usally why they go through a screaming phase. I also taught them during this learning phase about shhh... you know where you put your finger over your mouth and say shhh. Now they know when I do that they need to be quiter, but I also encourage them to use there loud voices when we are outside like at the park, so they know when/where they need to be quite and loud.

    Hope this helps?

Sometimes I just have to take a deep breathe and count to 10, or I corral them in the child proofed living room and I go outside and grab the meal and a breathe of fresh air.

I used to put them both in the buggy and go for a walk. Or try to distract them with something new... like the pots and pans in the kitchen. Also give them a blanky or stuffed animal and hug them with it. They will learn to use it as a comfort item.

That can be really trying. The car still works for me. It still seems to really calm them down.

For the past couple days I have been to fatigued to get out, and I could really tell it had its effects on my two. They were unusually cranky and fussy, so today I scheduled around 11 to go into town and pay bills, and it worked out great. I went through and got us a bite to eat, and now we are back home and they are watching Little Bear preparing for their afternoon nap.

I find it always helps to get out, if not for a walk, a ride in the car.

    Hope that helps.

If I'm home I put on Backyardigans - works everytime.

If it's at night, I can still manage to rock them both at the same time even with my big ol' belly since they are so small so that works sometimes. But honestly, if rocking them both doesn't work, I stick them both back in their cribs and just let them cry :(

I suplement.. if they wake up early from the nap.. before i go get themfrom the crib.. i put pillows on the couch.. and have cups of milk. juice diapers ready.. its inevitable that they are still tired..
mine wake up and lay around for afew minutes before the are really awake..

and yes they wake up grumpy..

i have things ready.. diapers / pillows/ and most of all sippy/ crackers..

    hope this helps.

I bribe them with graham crackers and dvds. If its really really bad, I'll lock them in their room and step out on to the front porch for a few minutes. Usually that little calm is enough to get me through it.

Sometimes, I start fake crying with them, and then they start to laugh, and forget about it. Or I will just be silly, and blow on their tummy, or bark like a dog, etc. I know it sounds funny, however, desperate times call for deperate measures. The phrase "I'm going to get you," works almost every time!"

If the above fails, I pull out a Michelob!
    Good luck
