    Please help!!

I have been swaddling the babies since they were born. They have been sleeping 11-12 hours per night since 8 weeks old and I really dont want to mess that up by not swaddling them. But I think they are getting too old to be so contained.

I wouldn't be so worried about it except Thomas has only flipped over once and Faith has never flipped over. I cant help but think that because they are contained it is stunting them flipping.

Any suggestions on how to transition them away from it? I actually tried tonight and Faith went right to sleep and I am praying she will stay asleep all night. Thomas on the other hand screamed the second I laid him down in the crib without swaddling him first.

What we do is wrap our guys from the waist down. They still love it and it makes them feel warm and comforted. Also as long as you do lots of tummy time, they will learn to flip. Good luck. I hope they sleep for ya tonight. [IMG]

We still swaddle our too. They are also not rolling over. I haven't been ery good about the tummy time though. Hannah usually has her legs out by morning, and sometime an arm. Natalie still completely wrapped. In another few weeks we may just start doing her looser to gradually wean her from it.

I started with one arm out for a few nights, then took the other out and left it at that for a few days. Then I made the bottom part a little looser for a few more days and then made the switch to sleep sacks.

we swaddled ours for three months in the bassinetts and when we put them in their big cribs we just stopped we never had a problem with it. I'm hoping your transition goes as smoothly as ours did. Just do lots of tummy time......they hate it but it is great for them.

    Yea,

We've started swaddling while leaving their arms out and it works great.

I swaddled until 6 months, stopped cold turkey and switched to sleep sacks. They were totally fine.

[IMG] We are still swaddling too...
But we are moving next month and plan to do separate cribs and stop swaddling at the same time... I am so nervous... good luck to you. Cant wait see more advice you get!

And by the way at about 5 months the girls started rolling everywhere.

We stopped swaddling around 3.5 months because I was afraid they'd start rolling over and end up face down and unable to move. We started on sleep sacks but they just got too hot, even in thin cotton sacks. So we just quit cold turkey. After about 2-3 days of a little restlessness, they went back to sleeping through the night. I would recommend stopping soon if they are rolling over.

We quit swaddling our girls cold-turkey around 4 months. After a couple of nights of fidgeting and yammering, they went back to sleeping pretty soundly. It's probably important to note that I was co-sleeping with them at the time. Now they're 7 months old and sleeping in their own cribs, swaddle free. [IMG]

Ditto here! And we still use sleep sacks for every nap and night time.

HA HA!!! Ours are STILL swaddled....almost 9 months[IMG] They get their arms out in the night, and Lauren always ends up on her tummy in the morning, but they will not go to sleep with out being swaddled so our blankets just keep getting bigger and bigger! I joke with my DH that they are going to be 2 and ask to be wrapped up so they can go to sleep[IMG] what ever works!
