Maybe you could try slowly moving it later? Maybe 15 or 30 minutes each day? And make sure that their naptime falls after they have a full tummy, so you don't have to worry about hunger waking them? [IMG]

When my oldest was that age, she would go back down at 9 am (after waking up at 7 am after 13 hours of sleep - straight). Then she would nap for an hour and go back down at around 1 pm. I followed Weissbluth's advice on the 9 am and 1 pm nap. I think the reason why they only sleep 20 minutes is the fact that they're overtired and that causes them to wake more frequently. I think going from 7 til 12 at 11 months is way too long.

when my daughter was that age she was in daycare and when they moved her over to the ones room they only got one nap at 12:30 - 2:30.

I wanted everything to be consistent so i tried to do the same at home. she would get up at 7:30 breakfast at 8:30 then the daycare had snack at 9:30 (because some kids ate breakfast at 7:00). Then i think at daycare they had lunch about 11:30 - 12:00 then changed everyones diapers then nap at 12:30.

it was so hard to keep her up at home most of the time she was ready for a 10am nap - sometimes i would put her down if i knew she was totally exausted. But they best thing to do is keep them busy - i know its hard when you have things to do but say from 10-12 is their time - do everything to keep them busy. it was when i wasn't stimulating and challenging my daughter that's when she was ready for an early nap.

make a schedule that works for your family and stick to it

My girls are the same age as yours and they are still napping twice a day. They wake up around 6:30, take their first nap from 8:30 to 9:30 or 10, and then their second nap is usually from 12:30 to 2 or 2:30. They go to bed at 6 p.m. I would try putting them down for the morning nap earlier - maybe 9 instead of 10. And then do the afternoon nap sometime around noon.

    Hope that helps [IMG]

I would also try putting them down at 9am and see how they do. Sometimes mine barly make it 2 hours after the wake up before their first nap. Although I do need them to stay up until at least 9 am since I have to get my oldest to school by 9am. They do stay up longer before their second nap.

If you think they are ready for just one nap I would try what becky5 suggested, gradually do it. My oldest didn't give up the 2 naps until around 18 months.

At that age I was slowly working towards 1 nap. I would switch depending on the day. I would do 1 nap about twice a week and 2 naps three times a week. I would try to do 1 nap a day on days were we had plans to get out of the house so I could keep them occupied. So I'd do 2 naps on M-W-F and 1 nap on T-Th or something like that. It depended on the day and depended on them. If they seemed really tired I'd put them down for that morning nap. On 2 nap days they got up around 7:30-8 am, breakfast, bath, nap at 9:30-10 am, slept for 1-2 hours, lunch, nap at 3-3:30 pm, slept 2 hours, dinner, bedtime at 8-8:30 pm.
On 1 nap days they got up at 7:30-8 am, breakfast, bath, out for the morning (park, mall, playdate, backyard), large snack 11 am, nap 11:30 am, slept for 3 hours, another large snack, outside for a bit, dinner, bedtime at 8 pm.
The key was to keep them busy during their normal naptime. After a few weeks of doing that they switched over to a full week of 1 nap a day. They were on 1 nap only by 12 1/2 months. Then I'd put them down between 12-1 pm depending on the day for their nap and they'd sleep at least 3 hours. I'd give them lunch at 12 pm and finish getting them ready for their nap and put them down. It took a good month to get them totally on 1 nap. I just let them guide me and I followed their cues. It worked pretty well. Good luck!
