How do I know if she has a bladder infection?

She's holding her diaper between her legs and telling me OWIE frequently during the day and after a bath I asked her to point where it hurt and she pointed right in between all her potty parts, and she doesn't appear to have a yeast infection or diaper rash.

The other thing I am thinking is while she was SO sick this weekend she went 12 hr. stints where she didn't potty at all. I wonder if that could cause a problem now?

I obviously can't call the doc till tomorrow, but I will. Just curious to see what you guys think!

My daughter was doing the same thing earlier this month. She had no fever or anything else but I took her into the Dr anyway after several days of it. During the exam, the Dr found she had a double ear infection! She said that she was pretty sure that was the problem, and that ear infections sometimes cause UTI symptoms in little girls. I had never heard that before. They took a urine sample just to be safe and it came back clean. She also found a small fissure down there that may have caused stinging and we put vaseline on it for a few days. Just to warn you, they will probably have to put a catheter in to get the urine sample which is awful.

    sounds like it could be.
Are you careful to not let her sit in soapy water or bubble baths? Both of those can cause UTI's/bladder infections.

All of my kids have had their urine tested at babies for one reason or another and never once had a catheter. The Pedi always gave be a bag w/ sticky stuff around the opening, you stick it to them and put on their diaper and it catches the urine.
Bring a big cup of water in case they want to test in the office.

When my older dd had one, the big thing that gave it away was the smell of the pee...it really stunk!! Can you smell her diaper? Sounds gross but it may help...def sounds like a uti!
Good luck and hope it clears up soon!
