How do/did you entertain your two month olds?

Okay, so my boys are awake more and more each day. (as a matter of fact, this week they've been on an all-out sleep strike!!!) So I am trying to find ways to keep them stimulated and entertained during these awake times.

    We do:
    tummy time
    smile at each other time
    mommy takes pictures
    mommy sings
    mommy reads in english
    mommy reads in french
    mommy makes faces
    mommy talks in silly voices
mommy eats lunch and they watch (a favorite activity for the whole family--particularly if there is melty stringy cheese involved)
    more voices/faces/languages/smiles/tummy/songs/pictures

What else can I do with these two? They are scared of all their toys, at least the ones they notice!

I used to prop them up against the back of the couch or on a pillow or boppy to "sit" for a few seconds...do you have a play mat or overhead toys? I had this FisherPrice thing - it played "Old MacDonald" it was an archway they would lay on their backs under and it had dangling animals...

it was like this except the front of it looked like a barn and it had farm animals hanging (it doesn't look like they have the exact one anymore - I receivd it as a hand me down toy...)

I second the activity mat(that is what we called ours, it was a barn and farm too) My babies loved it. THre are all kinds that have toys that hang down. I would recommend one that play music. Also they really started liking their bouncy seats at this age. I had 2 different ones that vibrated and played music. I would rotate them between activity mat and 2 bouncy seats. I know you said sing, I would do songs with actions and move their hand/arms to do the actions, they liked that. I would hold up toys that rattled for them to look at. It will get easier as they can do more.

I think you're doing great! I especially like the Mommy eats while babies watch. That is a big favorite in our home too (at least for me). Mine are staying awake a lot more during the day too. I need to go get a new playmat thing and see if they like it. My 2yr old does a lot of singing Twinkle Twinkle to them (with hand motions mind you) and I think they like that too :)

I took my daughter to a class called "Bouncing Babies" at my local library (a play group for birth to 12 months filled w/ music and age appropriate toys)...of course, it was only me and my singleton daughter...but I remember a mom in the group had twins. She would bring in a boppy pillow sometimes to help them sit up. It's a nice thing for the babies AND it gives you some time out of the house. It sounds like you are doing a FABULOUS job though, keep up the great work. Your babies are lucky! :)

My girls have always and still love the activity mat too! We have the rainforest one. Sounds like you're doing a great job keeping those babies entertained, mommy! :)

i did all that (except change the talk to them in french to talk to them in serbian lol), plus i'd have "cooking time" where i would put them in the bouncies in teh kitchen and let them watch me cook, then wash dishes, wash their bottles, etc... sometimes marina would fall asleep to the sound of the running water lol i'd also take them in the bedroom, prop them up on pillows adn let them watch me fold laundry (i still do this, and the cooking thing)... i've also let them watch me excercise lol i often wonder what goes on inside their heads when they watch me do leg lifts or something
p.s. activities mats are good, too, tho they may just stare at the arches for a while

I was going nuts when my boys were 2 months, by 2 o'clock I had gone through my entertainment repetoire a few times and we were all bored!
at the advice of this forum I started taking them out - walks/shopping in the afternoons as an activity.
Wont be long tho and your boys will be grasping their toys and having a great time!
