Just curious how you all started labor with your twin pregnancies! Thanks!

Well, with the twins, I had a scheduled c-section. But with my first son, my water broke at 4am (I was 9 days overdue and I had lost my plug a couple days before that). After my water broke, contractions still didn't start. I went to the hospital and they had to induce labor. :)

I had preterm and contractions for weeks before I actually went in for my medical induction.
By the time I showed up though, on induction day, I was dilated to 5 and 100% effaced already.

my water broke the day before I was supposed to be induced - I got to the hospital at 8 cm, 80% effaced. by the next morning I was maxed out on pitocin, and ended up with a c-section! tatiana's hand was on her head and so I did not finish dilating.

I was having contractions and didn't know it. I had complete back labor so thought it was just back pain from laying on the couch on bedrest...went to the hospital bc I had pressure in my crotch and was told one of my bags was leaking and that sealed the deal of having them that day:) When I got there I was 4 1/2cm dilated and 100% effaced...was 3cm and 90% 4 days earlier at my appt. I had them vaginally:)

I was called the morning of 37w1d and told to go right in for an induction since my pre-e had gotten worse. C-section was performed the following morning.

I stood up and my water broke. At first I thought "OMG I'm so huge that now I can't even control when I urinate!" then it hit me what it was....

I was a scheduled c-section. I still joke that if the twins had their way, they'd still be in my belly!

I had a scheduled c-section at 37w5d and never once did I have any signs of impending labour. I had my cervix checked prior to delivery and it was firm closed, nothing going on!

at the end of 32 weeks we did a NST and heard baby B's heartrate slow, pause, and then start again. the OBGYN said he probably just rolled over on his umbilical cord but they sent me to the hospital to be sure. stayed overnight, confirmed the babies were fine, and was discharged after a lecture about my blood pressure (as though i could control that). 2 days later i started having a lot of pain, like there was nowhere for me to sit or lie or stand without excruciating pain. i tried to hold out but ended up on the phone with my doctor, in tears. she sent me back to the hospital. turns out i'd started having very hard contractions but my cervix was unchanged. they monitored me overnight again and once again discharged me. they gave me pain killers to deal with the pain of the contractions and told me to expect to feel this much pain for the next several weeks. i wasn't comfortable taking pain killers so i didn't. not even a day later the pain was so bad i could hardly breathe and the doctor sent me back into the hospital a third time. this time they ran a panel of tests and found out my rising blood pressure had just tipped me over the line into pre-eclampsia. there were also signs that my liver was at risk and they couldn't let me go any longer. i was having contractions this whole time but still, no cervical changes.

so i went in for an emergency c-section at 33 1/2 weeks. my cervix was never anywhere near budging, but i was having lots of contractions. so i'm kind of a hybrid of the poll options!

At 37w1d, I lost complete control of my right arm and it was starting to happen in my left arm. I was 3.5cm 80% effaced. My dr stripped my membranes and told me to go to L&D. Even though I was having contractions for two weeks, it was not changing my cervix. I have to put on a monitor to measure the contractions of my cervix. I was on a LARGE amount of pitocin for my boys to come join us. I labored for 31 hours and the boys were delivered vaginally and healthy!

They were not coming on their own.

I guess I should have voted that I was induced then had problems so had to go with the emergency c-section...

I was induced on my scheduled day. I was only 1 cm. dilated at the time and had no signs of pending labor. I know I would have made it to 40 weeks had I not been induced. I wonder how big they would have been then? They were both born vaginally. Your getting close! Good luck!

Put on bedrest at 27 weeks due to positive FFN. Goal was to get to 32 weeks. Had contractions daily/hourly for next ten weeks, given terbutaline injection twice. Scheduled c-section for 37 weeks, but none of the docs thought I'd get that far. Went in at 37 weeks, still not in labor, had my scheduled c-section!

I went into preterm labor at 29 1/2 weeks with contractions which they were able to stop. I delivered at 32 weeks after going into labor again with contractions. I had a c-section, but did actually go into active labor and was dialated 5 cm when they did the c-seciton. Apparently they wanted the girls to go through some of the stress of labor before I delivered.

Started with pre-term labor at 20 weeks, went into the hospital at 24 weeks with a 7mm cervix and contractions 1 minute apart. Managed to lay in the hospital bed for 11 more weeks (with only 1 labor scare) until they decided to induce for Jack's IUGR and absent end-diastolic flow. Got up the night before induction and noticed I was peeing funny. Nurses and doctors ignored it, U/S and amnio the next day for lung maturity didn't show a rupture. Induced with pitocin for 3 hours before they realized I had ruptured the night before. Labored another 3 hours before they "lost" Jack and found he had turned transverse so we decided to go with the C-section.

Needless to say, I chose "other". :p

At 30 weeks, 6 days I woke up from a nap and as I rolled out of bed, my water broke. This was at 2:00pm, i arrived at the hospital at 3:00, they had me in observation by 3:20, discovered I was dialated 6-7 and scheduled a 4:15 c-section. DH was in waiting room and had no idea what was going on until they told him at 3:55 to suit up, we are going in to the OR! Aiden was born at 4:44 and Cruz was born at 4:45... what a whirlwind experience.

I didn't realize it at the time, but what I thought was braxton hicks the week before this, was labor. If only I would have known! Aparently there is no such thing as braxton hicks that early in your pregnancy... I didn't know that... and when I told my doctor, they weren't alarmed.

Unscheduled Medical Induction for me. At 33 weeks I was put on bedrest for high blood pressure. Then over the next week it kept going up and didn't get better, so I ended up having to be induced. Gave birth at 34 weeks.

Baby #1 ~ Water broke, failed induction and fetal distress, semi-emergency c/s
Baby #2 ~ Water broke night before my scheduled c/s
Baby #3 & #4 ~ Pretty sure my water broke, the little test paper came back "inconclusive" meaning it was blue but not as bright enough to indicate a full break (I'm thinking it was a trickle), but since I started contracting every 2-7 mins while there (had no contraction's prior so I'm sure my water broke and triggered them), my ob went ahead and took the babies by repeat c/s, 10 days before scheduled c/s.

All of my children were scheduled inductions.
DD#1 was 2 weeks overdue ended up weighing almost 9lbs, no plans to be born at all, full on pitocin the whole way
DS#1 was 5 days early so he wouldn't get any bigger almost 9lbs as well, pitocin

Twins were to keep my BP in check at 38.5 weeks (no problems except that my BP rose slightly the day before and our OB thought he would share his birthday with our babies, truthfully, I think he was going away for the weekend and didn't want us to interfer... LOL) They broke my water and let me progress from there and added some pitocin at the end.
